It’s crazy how one component supplier can throttle the whole repair industry. There are too many things made overly complicated these days so that repair is impossible.

I’ve just had to launch one of my Apple HomePods at just over two years old, Apple don’t fix them, there are no spares so it’s tough.

There’s a lot of ethical questions that suppliers need to be made to answer, what about the right to repair instead of computer says no.

That's partly the reason for the long VW order delays, a lot of the engine electronics is produced in one factory that shut production down due to COVID.

Isn’t this one of the things the EU were trying to bring in, repairable products?
 
I checked with dad and he had exactly the same. Had to remove the ecu and send it off to get it sorted(£80 but that was a few years ago)
