Have finally got round to ordering my new touch screen. Before I start unplugging anything on the radio, Do I need to know a radio PIN code for when it all gets powered back on? Haven't messed about much with stereos before and remember nearly locking my old Vectra stereo after it went to the garage for a new battery years ago.

All done. No codes required. Turns out they haven't been a thing for a few years. Replaced by coding the whole unit to the van.

Thanks to all the advice in this thread and a video watch and the whole process went very easily and painless!

Hello,
What to do if you have this issue (Air bubbles on the screen)
I think, I need to remove the old screen.. possible ? Someone already try ?
Thank you

Hey, did you try all the steps described in this video :
to access the touchscreen itself and check the status?
It looks like a protective plastic layer remain and that should be removed to fix your issue?
Ben

Hi everyone,

Great topic here and I am currently looking at fixing my dodgy touchcreen as well but I have a small question for you all.

I read through all the messages here and you all seem to have a different reference number on your radios than me.

My reference number is - VWZAZ2T6232463

Photo attached.

Am I still ok to purchase one of these like you all have? - TDO-WVGA0633F00039, TDO-WVGA0633F00036, TDO-WVGA0633F00045

Thanks for your help!!!!

Hi everyone

Been getting issues for a few months with my head unit. Touch screen unresponsive and areas affected seem to be spreading. Thinking about doing the digitiser replacement.
Can anyone tell me if they disconnected the battery before pulling the head unit out?? Is this necessary. Would like to avoid getting error codes.

Cheers

Disconnecting the battery is maybe advisable but I forgot / didn't bother. Just made sure not to put keys in ignition without radio in place. No error codes afterwards for me. Someone more knowledgeable might be along soon.

Hi @Daryl82
The 00039 & 00045 numbers are found on the back of the screens.
The VWZA… number is that of the whole unit.
Hope this helps.
Andy

Managed to pop the new digitiser in, had to do it twice because knobhead here hadn't realised there were two layers of protective film on it

Was quite dissapointed with the quality of the new screen, too fuzzy (I assumed having lef the old digitiser caused this) and had scratches on already so I moaned on the Ebay feedback and the guy told me there was another layer to peel off doh... sorted it now and it's great :waving:
Aaaaahhh! Here I'd thought I'd read all twelve pages of this thread before I started ... and I have the exact issue you describe!!

Dim screen. Slightly fuzzy. Metallic sheen. Scratches. All after I removed ONE layer of plastic screen cover. I complained to the seller, suggested to them... is there a second layer of film? They didn't acknowledge but refunded me.

So, I guess now I take it out and check for a second layer?!

Update: Disassembled. Sure enough... second removable layer on the screen. Annoyed I missed it the first time, but hoping it sorts my issues out. The new digitizer looks far better. No longer fuzzy. Doesn't seem as dim. Haven't tested fully, but seems pretty good now! Glad I saw your message. Neither of the two videos I watched showed both layers removed. No blame. My own oversight.

Haha that makes me feel slightly better!

Hi there!

My VW T6 head unit shows a black/blanc screen permanently. Also the touchscreen does not work anymore..

I tried a new digitizer and holding the on/off buttons like mentioned many times in this thread.

However with the new digitizer still I did not have any touchscreen (on top of my permanent blanc screen)

I could go and buy a new complete LCD assembly off ebay (TDO-WVGA0633F00045 for 250$) but I wonder maybe the problem is something else?

any tips? Did replacing the LCD fix the blanc screen issue for anyone? Or is it maybe my motherboard?

Any tips are welcome!

Evening..
the Unit in my T6 is playing up, seems a common issue with the Sat Nav & DAB. Related?
Got the ignition on, the radio FM etc works off the steering wheel controls to scan, change channels & turn volume up no probs.. put it on DAB & won’t tune on SW or manual, as well as won’t turn sound up or down, just says ‘5a’ - won't search or scan.
As for the Sat Nav it says I’m about 45 miles away from where I actually am!! Go to store my home address yet it still starts at that random place 45 miles away..
not sure if I’ve seen something to do with some wheel sensors on the front hubs, not sure if it’s related or not.. sometimes the touchscreen seems like it’s not responding either, bloody frustrating though..

I had this problem on my California.
Since i didn't find much detail online on how to fix the touchscreen, i made some video notes here:
Like all things, It's not that complicated once you know how.

The touch sensor costs about €15 shipped from China in about a month.
TDO-WVGA0633F00039 or TDO-WVGA0633F00045. (They are both the same part i believe.)

I thought i was going to have to try and un-stick the broken touch sensor from the LCD screen. They are glued together.
The thing that made the job much easier than i thought it was going to be is finding out how thin the touch sensor is.
But when the new sensor arrived, it was only about ~1mm thick so i just placed it over the top of the broken one without removing the old one.
The main head unit case is forgiving enough to take up the extra thickness.

Hope this helps someone.
Just carried out this repair following your Youtube video...thank you so much!

For anyone about to attempt this repair, here is the replacement screen I purchased from eBay, delivered the next day!

Used in my 2018 T6 Kombi Highline 204.

Thanks again.

Just done this repair and now have a screen which is fully working. Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread! The only part I was struggling with was removing the circuit board but as somebody mentioned there are a couple of small black clips holding the card reader slots in, gave them a wiggle with screwdriver and it came away easily. Happy Days!

Did anyone manage to find a solution to a frozen unit...
I don't think it is the screen and can't get anything out of it except this.Tried the button holding and battery disconect.

Try the digitiser. It’s only £12. On mine, it wasn’t totally frozen but would occasionally become fully unresponsive.

After picking up a 17 plate, T6 3 days ago.
My screen has areas where I cannot press, so I have ordered a new digitizer for £12.

Excellent forum and great support

Thanks
Alan

Just read the whole 12 pages and noone seems to have BUTTONS being unresponsive too. I do. When I press something on the carplay screen it does something else (so far might be a digitizer problem) and then nothing anymore. I can’t even change functions with buttons (from carplay screen to radio or nav that is). So I’m wondering if it’s the same shite I have or something else.
Note: rebooting the HU solves the problem until the next connection of the phone to HU, it seems.

My physical buttons were unresponsive. Changing the digitiser solved the problem.
