This makes no sense at all for me but thanks, I seem to have the same problem then.
I felt the same way. Couldn’t see how problems with the touch screen meant I couldn’t switch to the radio. But my screen and head unit would become 100% unresponsive. Sometimes I could manage a reset and it would sort of work for a bit and then get worse again.

I guess it’s probably a matter of the faulty digitiser registering constant input to the head unit to the point that it crashes.

Either way it’s a cheap fix.

Same here. Couldn't switch mode from radio to media or nav (Or anything, come to think of it) using the side selector buttons. New touch screen solved the lot.

I've just changed my touch screen. Very good video on the link in an earlier post....thank you to whoever posted that.
A bit fiddly with the small screws but very simple. Only issue I had after putting it all back together was not making sure the sd card holder was seated properly. Pushed in the card and it wouldn't read it and had to take it apart again. My fault for not checking properly.
Looking forward to having a working stereo again as it was driving me crackers:rofl:

Another satisfied Forum user here. After the right hand side of my touchscreen failed I considered upgrading but decided to try first to fix it. All done with new digitiser ordered from an eBay link in post #233 above and now fitted and working.

The most difficult part was probably trying to decide which digitiser to order with many available from different online shops, but with little description. I am happy with the one referenced above.

I've just replaced my touchscreen and now I am getting nothing on the screen. I thought it looked easy so attempted it myself which has been an obvious mistake.

Has anyone else had this issue? I thought it might have been a dodgy part so ordered a 2nd screen and still have the same problem - model is 5K7 035 200 G.

There is power getting to the unit as the buttons illuminate and when holding the on / off button the lights go on and off as if it's resetting but still nothing on the screen.

Thanks in Advance

That's strange? What was the old screen doing before you changed it? I would try the original screen back in the unit and rule out it not being another issue with the stereo. If that works you know its will be the replacement screens you have bought are no good.
I guess you have checked the connections are seated properly??

That’s a great idea, I’ll try that. The old screen was doing the usual unresponsive behaviour in certain areas of the screen.

I’ve double and triple checked the connections.. just hope I have t damaged any.
