Oil gooey???

The engine and the oil will become hot during running and once you stop will cool down ...but the likes of the dipstick and oil filler tube cool down faster and any vapour or moisture is trapped and reacts with the oil to create the sludge..this could be the cause

Ahh ok possible direct cause then, assume expect normal then maybe that’s why it’s fine when checked hopefully disaster avoided, fingers and toes crossed.

Put a marker on the coolant reservoir and check daily to see if you are losing any. I really hope for you that there isn’t a problem but you need to watch it like a hawk to work out if any of that coolant is getting in to the oil.

You should also check the oil on the dipstick daily until you are sure there is no longer an issue.

One other thing. The vehicle usage you described earlier (5 mile trips etc) is doing the van no favours. It’s not getting up to temperature so moisture is not getting driven out of the engine. This might be contributing to the emulsion seen on the dipstick.

Once converted this year it’s likely not to be getting used daily to work and back as I am keeping my wife’s car when she gets a new one so van only used for outing.
Will be watching and dipping every other day now just in case VW have missed something

Hi Pete,

no mate had it all checked out straight after by VW then checked weekly all fine.

they dropped oil and re filled no issues.

need to check this weekend as not done for a while now to be honest
