Operation B14 has commenced

With all this messing around with the potential of rubbing,i've decided to abandon the purchase of B14;s
Just bought spome Eibach 50mm drop springs and a set of Bilstein B8s........sorted.

I thought it didn't make any difference to what brand long as it's 50 mm drop you have issues if you fit 20'" wheels with 40 mm profile tyre ?

We've not fitted the 50mm Eibachs, but Im pretty sure you will still have rubbing issues, at the front. Its the oversize tyre that is the issue, on 20's.

Be interested in hearing back once you've fitted them.

Tyres are everything. I'm lowered about 60-70mm on my b14s and a loaded work Van, 275/35/20 20x9 et45. No rubbing. Even with 20mm spacers front 25mm spacers rear. No rubbing.

Lowering spring and shocks

I spoken to a couple of transporter specialists today and both gave me the same advice
Sportline springs genuine VW you will not notice the ride quality between these and B14's yes they will be a harder ride but that's only because they are 20mm lower so the shock has less travel and both said unless you want it sitting low don't bother ??
His advice was VW sportline with 20" et 35-40 maybe fit H&R ARB it will ride a lot nicer and won't rub and keep your VW warranty
It seems like I'm going round in circles
Any input is appreciated I need to decide and get on with my life it's getting
Thanks

Had my lwb caravelle done at transporter hq yesterday. When I first saw the front I thought straight away that it was too low but would sort this myself when the wheels were on and I do the geometry. Drove gently for first day as it was obvious that set up was required first however very pleasantly surprised by comfort and ride.
Did the geometry today on Beissbarth (official vw tooling) at Stealth Racing and it was fairly straight forward and now all back in the green.
It is still on 17" wheels so no idea of rubbing issues until the new wheels arrive but all I can say is WOW. Comfort and ride is only just off the standard set up, considering how low it looks I am stunned to the ride quality. Steering slightly more positive too, I wasn't sure if the woolly steering was down to T6 or LWB but this seems to have returned my steering to the t5.1 feel now. Another note is my driving position, just being lower gives it that people carrier rather than a van feel.
Thanks to Transporter HQ and Stealth racing, money well spent and happy t6 owner here.

Will post some pics before and after when the wheels arrive (promised 2 weeks delivery 3 weeks ago, just been told 2 weeks again today!!)

B14 give such a comfortable ride. Lowered springs on oem shocks can't compare.

This is what most people say, so I phone the garage to book it in today and they seemed to put me off and said because it's brand new Carevelle have sportline a fitted ???? That's two people both well up in the transporter world !!!!

what wheels have you chosen ? Offset etc

Sportline springs (Eibach) are hard and uncompromising. Going through any imperfection in the road rattles your teeth out - The H&R springs are better and the Bilstein's are on another level. I'm not sure what difference it being brand new makes - We fit loads of springs kits and coilers to brand new vans. The only suspension issues these vans seem to have under warranty are noisy front top mounts - They even fall apart on new vans when we are swapping the suspension over.

We are regularly taking vans off Eibach/H&R springs and upgrading onto coil-overs.

I always have on site, a Transporter on Bilstein's and one on H&R Springs (which are smoother than Eibach's), to offer people a comparison test drive. You are more than welcome to come and test both back to back to see for yourself.

mine is 3 weeks old. I totally understand warranty issues and I don't expect VW to repair or replace something I have modified.

Just looking for the complete wheel and tyre spec but off top of my head its vossen vfs1 in graphite 20x9 et35 with 275/35 vredestein. basically I copied this look without the black graphics Vossen Wheels - VW T6 - VOSSEN FLOW FORMED SERIES: VFS1
Yes I understand them not replacing the wheels or shocks / springs
But they might say you have void the warranty and your dsg gearbox , drive shafts, steering rack, brakes etc etc have broken because you have run bigger wheels putting more pressure on the parts due to weight or harder lower springs !!
I know 50% of transporters in the country have been modified in some way it maybe me to being paranoid

Those vossens are thousands per wheel

Thanks

Hello

All our mechanical work is carried out at our Bognor Regis branch.

I have 7 fully trained technicians, and all have a very good understanding of Transporters, as well as all makes and models. My senior technician knows pretty much everything you need to know on a Transporter, and works closely with all the others where necessary. We have a great team who work very well together.
