Our Place Wonder Oven

Hi all

I've been looking at the Wonder Oven and wondering if anyone can advise if it would be OK to run if we are on an EHU

I understand most things but electrics have never been my strong point!!

It's a 1400 watt / 230 volt appliance and if I understand, we shouldn't have an issue when hooked up, but couldn't and wouldn't try to use it off grid

Any help gratefully received, thank you

It will depend on the amperage of the sites EHU and what else you are running at the same time.

My understanding is that Watts = Amps x Voltage. So if you have 6.25 Amps at 240 Volts, you can run a 1.5 kW device. So EHU with more than that should be ok.

That said it may pull more load when it starts up.

We have a1500W Air fryer and not had any problems (yet).

We don’t run anything else at the same time when using it apart from the fridge as that will add more load.

Second what @Paul Sussex says though keep in mind actual line voltages can drop to 230v or even lower that will cause the current to rise.

Wholly resistive devices like heating elements often have a higher inrush current as they turn on, it's the act of that first surge of current that heats them up and raises the resistance. The figure that's quoted on them is the final "steady state" they reach. Also be aware the rates figure is an average, individual devices can be a little higher or lower depending on manufacturing tolerances.

Don't forget you're likely running your 12v charger to supply the 12v side of the van so there will be that load even with nothing plugged into the 240v sockets. A 15A charger at 14v is 15 x 14 = 210w so about 1A at 240v

Thanks both, will look further into it before doing anything. Was hoping someone may have one that could say how it had gone but will keep looking into it
