Just a quick heads up and huuuge thanks to Simon and Chris at Performance Driven in Taunton .
We arrived at 3.30pm on a wet Monday afternoon with an angry battery light glaring at us from the dash . After a quick Google and detour off the M5 we started our prayers ! They were obvs really busy but took time to help us work out the problem despite having other jobs on the go . The alternator had died and all the motor factors and even VW in Taunton didn't hold one so they arranged for a Lucas unit to be shipped down overnight via ECP . They let us pitch up next to their unit overnight ( all the local beds Sold Out ) and fitted the unit with speed and precision the next morning . They made us tea, took time to show us a few things about the van we hadn't noticed and were generally seriously professional and polite .
I can't recommend them enough as they're VW specialists and gave the van a real going over to determine the issue .
PS never camped in an industrial unit before but it was strangely peaceful and there were peregrine falcons swooping down from the neighbouring TV mast !!
