Hi Sippe, does that mean you can do all the connections but not do the VCDS and it will operate the lights etc but just won’t adapt the other settings - reverse sensors for lights etc? It's indeed that, telling your car that you have a tow bar and that it might need to adapt stuff the moment something is attached. Think lights etc. will work even without.
But just know that the coding itself is not too difficult. It's just ticking a box, and then go to the right bit of coding, and change some long coding, with the last VCDS software you just have to tick one or two boxes (can look up what exactly I had to do). If you don't have vcds, I'm pretty sure there's somebody not too far from you who will give you a hand.
If you do it, you know that everything that's there is actually 'rightly connected' (my autistic side likes to have stuff like that done ). Also, if you then ever decide to add a towbar, everything is in place.
That’s what mine does at the moment. All trailerboard lights work fine. When I select reverse, the parking sensors beep continuously as they detect whatever is fitted (easy enough to to mute on the screen), and the rear camera activates, which can still see a bit if all I have on the rear is a cycle carrier.Hi Sippe, does that mean you can do all the connections but not do the VCDS and it will operate the lights etc but just won’t adapt the other settings - reverse sensors for lights etc?
Fitted the same wiring kit, all ok, but Can't be sure of the location of the grommet to access the bulkhead, to run the stop light and can bus wiresIt does make it slightly easier and carefully cut the ties on them but they are still tight to do!!!!!
Good luck
Yesdo you mean from the engine bay to the cab?
It’s in the windscreen scuttle with access via the small removable panel on the drivers side in the engine bay, be careful not to drop the bolts they are a bugger to find in the engine bay.Fitted the same wiring kit, all ok, but Can't be sure of the location of the grommet to access the bulkhead, to run the stop light and can bus wires
Thanks Dave, I'll be on it tomorrow. It’s in the windscreen scuttle with access via the small removable panel on the drivers side in the engine bay, be careful not to drop the bolts they are a bugger to find in the engine bay.
