Ok thanks, who is best to do the coding? Before you start on the 2 plugs you need to disconnect the battery. Once it's all done, connect the battery and code the tow bar option.
If it's all working ok, connect the trailer and check the lights.
Hi @Littleblackflash,Ok thanks, who is best to do the coding?
I did phone a vw dealer and they seemed a bit vague on what needs doing.
Hi @Pauly ,If it has tow bar prep and you have utilised it correctly then it won’t need any coding
I have no power to the 8 pin plug in the rear quarter panel !!Hi @Pauly ,
Thanks for your message, I fitted the p f Jones 29270555 PF kit which has two plugs that fit into trailer prep sockets.
Reconnected battery and tested all lights on van to check they all work which they do. I then tried a multi meter on the 13 pin plug terminals and there is no power to any terminals?
@Pauly, who is the best to code the tow bar? Dealer or independent auto electricianSounds plausible.
Lights should work, everything else needs the code activating.
Thanks @Pauly for the information. If you have towbar prep it won’t need coding, the trailer control module is present and coded at the factory
Not sure about yours, but OEM towbar terminals won't "activate" unless trailer is attached (bulb like load on a few terminals) = multimeter doesn't load terminals enough for them to turn on.why is there no power or lights when I put a multi meter on the terminals of the 13 pin plug?
Thanks for the information @mmi, I’m guessing it will be the same as oem as the van has tow bar wiring prep and I have used dedicated wiring loom to rear quarter panel from p f JonesNot sure about yours, but OEM towbar terminals won't "activate" unless trailer is attached (bulb like load on a few terminals) = multimeter doesn't load terminals enough for them to turn on.
