Polperro, Cornwall £12 minimum charge car parking for Motorhomes!

Just realised my 2 favourite places on earth, Northumberland and France are still mostly free parking. I balk at paying for parking, I really do. I'm not tight though I assure you :)

Ours is classed a 'motor caravan' and we regularly used to park in the large motorhome destinated spaces at Lyme regis .
Used to cost £2 for 24hrs .
We would go in for coffee and croissants before work and then go back after shift for a pint, a pasty and a walk on the beach all on the same ticket
Bet you can't do that now

Sainsburys car park next to a hospital near me; 2 quid for 2 hours unless you use the parking app in which case the same 2 hours cost 7 quid - nothing on the meter to show this difference - such a rip off for the younger generation who dont carry cash whereas us older folk always have a few quid in the glove box ;)

I’ve no idea the last time I paid for parking in a private car park that doesn’t have exit barriers. Screw them.

chap who owns the carpark is a multi millionare, the last time (and only time) i was there a couple of years ago it was cash only too
Still is cash only! Again lots of people struggling at the machine, counting their coins.
Wonder why it’s cashonly??!

It seems to be the norm now expensive parking at nice places
Studland bay NT car parks £8 4 hrs all day £12
North Norfolk Council run £1.80 per hour not bad for short stay do the maths for 8 hours
Brancaster in Norfolk £5 2 hours £11 all day
Kent coast £1.80 PH
£1.80 pH seems cheap but not if you make a day of it
We're national trust members so you get free parking in their car parks the only reason we joined Park up in NT car park and enjoy a day of walking
We’re NT members and have been for 40+ years. The ‘free’ parking is a bonus. Especially as we only need to scan our membership card and not find cash.

I remember those days but unfortunately no longer the case. £1.90 per hour by the harbour, and not a dissimilar amount if you're in the top car park.

Back to Polperro, we parked up once in the car park one evening for a meal in the nearby pub and a local who lived in one of the houses overlooking said he rarely saw anyone checking at that time. He said if he did see someone he would repeatedly sound his horn. I suspect he was disgruntled at someone profiteering from extortionate prices.

If you are down that way - got to visit Mousehole (mouwz'l). They (last time I went) had a community carpark which, once I'd spoken to the guys running it, didn't baulk at all paying that and a half pint more. Trouble is that there are already too many (more than 1) vehicles driving around there.
Anyway - enjoy Cornwall.

if you down that area and have dogs and want to wear them out try Charwell Dog Adventures, loads of enclosed areas with different themes, my two choc labs should of been fish so we went in the Splash Field and spent an hour swimming and chasing each other around, book on line pay in 30 mins slots and up to 10 dogs, cost £12 for and hour for two dogs you park in area and close gate behind you, just sit there and leave them run around no way to escape which was good for my pair no recall, if i let them go on the beach they be off the coast of France with an hour
