Power-Closing via key fob.

I presume this is factory option and not retrofit?

Is your tailgate behaving while your vehicle is on level ground? Or is it misbehaving only when your vehicle is sitting on incline/slope?

Thanks for all your replies guys. It does indeed open from the keyfob when it feels like it (done it 3 times now) but stuggle to get it to perform every time Prehaps not holding the button in for long enough or somthing like that....

Mine is random as well but it only opens if I first unlock then hold the button for a few seconds. Sometimes it opens sometimes not, same parking space

£50 is standard for a VCDS/programming session in the UK.

A fair price IMHO, considering the price of VCDS + the knowledge.

Hi I have a new T6 with a power tailgate, pressing the button on the side of the key fob opens the tailgate, that’s great,
But the question is can you close it using the key fob
Can you gus help
Would you mind to confirm what functionality your driver's door switch has in the following 4 scenarios.

1 - opening with a short/quick pull
2 - opening with a long pull
3 - closing with a short/quick pull
4 - closing with a long pull

Hi all,
I’ve been looking through the forum at ways to get the electric tailgate to close from the key fob and have noticed that people have managed to get it coded to do so.
My question is this, is this something the main dealer would do or would it have to be a specialist?
Thanks in advance for your help and advice!

THERE MAY NOT BE A PROBLEM.
I had this happening as soon as I bought the van, the tailgate opened once or twice but usually never and so after 6 months I took it into my dealer. He called me later that day to say the problem was fixed. Actually it wasn't fixed but it was explained. The rear door mechanism is linked to the rear parking sensors. When you open it on the key fob there must be NOTHING in the sensor area. When I got to the dealer he took me out to the van parked outside with nothing around it, pressed and held the key and the tailgate opened. He closed it and we stood behind the vehicle and it wouldn't open. We moved back a bit and then a bit more and eventually the tailgate would open. Go park in the middle of a completely empty car park. Stand at the side of the vehicle and press the key. It should open.
I could find nothing about this in the manual (which is very helpful?) and even the service reception guy had not known about this.
The big problem is that the sensor area is not just directly behind the vehicle but also slightly out to one side as you will know from using the system during reversing. At home and at work I park close up against a hedge and a wall and the sensors 'see' them and won't allow fob opening. The system is practically useless and I don't bother with it.

That being said if you start the tailgate opening and then try to push against it and stop it it takes a lot of force and I am a fully grown man. The motors on tailgate and side doors are very powerfull. Anybody of lesser build would be knocked off their feet. The trouble is that unless you are standing outside the vehicle with a clear view of the tailgate you have no idea of who or what may be hidden from view and who you might injure. If the vehicle is in a supermarket car park the tailgate should open off the fob because there would be a clear space behind it but I doubt there is anywhere else you can use it in town.

Can I just ask, do you have tailgate switch in driver's door?

Finally got VCDS installed and done this as my first simple mod. Great help on this thread, now to figure out how to do the rest of my list!!!

how does yours operate @Eli1264. One pull and the lid pops open and lifts up or one pull and the lid pops then another pull to lift it?

Only option 2, they door switch is not 2 way so cannot close unless you press button on tailgate. I would be interested in getting the fob to be able to close though
