Following a couple weeks of trying out and testing we are now ready to release the retrofit power latching kits for tailgates and sliding side doors.
The kits are supplied with a custom wiring loom and all required parts to complete the job, the install is relatively straight forward and can easily be completed by a single person.
A 12 volt positive supply is required (negative connections are provided) in the rear of the vehicle to power the control modules that activate the power latching and a cable is provided for this for the installer to take to a place of their choosing.
Each kit requires one existing vehicle cable to be cut and joined onto the provided loom.
Everything supplied is a genuine Volkswagen part supplied from VW UK (excluding the custom wiring loom) and carries the appropriate warranty so a perfect fit can be assured.

*edit
I have recently reviewed parts prices from VW as they have been creeping up and up for a while and the kit prices have not changed for a long time so kit prices have been revised below

Pricing as below + £4.99 delivery per order
Tailgate Latching Kit = £380
Slider Door Latching = £490
Tailgate + One Slider = £845
Tailgate + Two Sliders = £1295

In light of the ever increasing price of parts from VW i will try and keep some second hand motors and modules in stock so we can make side door kits utilising these, as and when these are available then side door kits will be £325 going up as prices are getting crazy

We will be supplying instructions with these kits and hope to have them ready in the next few days but as a loom is provided most of the connections are plug and play and all fixings utilise factory holes so no drilling or power tools are required.
These kits are made to order so we anticipate an approximate dispatch time of around one week from order being placed
First post was last updated Oct 22 so wont be far out
Hi Paul
Definitely interested in the sliding door power latching kit. Would take the cables under the floor and take the 12v supply from the leisure battery. What’s the next step? How do I pay? My van is a T6 2016 reg.

Just sent a message to @Pauly. Wondering if anyone else could assist?

Hi Pauly

...

I've now purchased the KUFATEC loom and controller (7E0959243E). Unfortunately, KUFATEC won't give me the installation instructions for the whole slider power latching system, or any instructions for that matter... They advise to study the wiring diagram. To have access to full (or any!) instructions apparently that requires the entire kit to be purchased for EUR800. This seems a little mean spirited.

I assume you kit/loom is similar to the one that KUFTEC provide? I've worked out most of the install but I'm somewhat cloudy when it comes to the interface between the loom and the striker plate. This should take place under the passenger seat and requires some cutting/splicing? Any advice would be very much appreciated!

I'm happy to compensate you should you want to send me the instructions provided with your kit!

Regards

No, my kit is nothing like there’s as they supply sliding door lock unit and cabling to go through the b pillar etc which my kit does not so the instructions won’t help you I’m afraid

Ah, thanks for the pointer. Some other users seem to have installed the Kufatec kit, maybe they could shed some light...?

If would like to install power latching for sliding doors, do I need to change the lock to the one that has a sensor or I can use this button sensor in C pillar?
Also will your kit fit the T5.1?

Hi I'm after a SLD loom if they are still available? I've got the module and the motor for the latch I just need the loom.

Send me a pm to remind me and will have a catch up with everything tomorrow

It’s the smaller control modules for power latching 7E0959243E
The larger control module is for electrically actuated door and thats 7E0959243D (the one you don’t want)
Hi Pauly I don’t suppose you now anywhere I could get the larger control module from do you part no 7E0959234D got one on back and it’s January 2025 a used one would be ok
Thanks Mark.

I don’t recognise that part number ?
All power latching doors use the same part number module
By larger one do you mean the one for full electric sliding door ?

Evening folks, a slightly overdue follow-up after fitting my sliding door power latching kit from @Pauly ....if you're in two minds about whether to or not, my 2p worth would be just to do it. It sounds a minor thing, getting rid of the swoosh-bang, but even on my driveway when I need to get something from the van late in the evening, it's so much less cringe-worthy than having to slam that door shut. Not stayed on a campsite since installing but it's going to be great not feeling like the piss-devil himself when going for a late night wazz.

Thanks also to Paul for talking me through what's required, very helpful. The kit isn't difficult to install if you're familiar with taking stuff apart and can do basic electrical installs. As Paul said to me, the hardest bit is just disconnecting and reconnecting one of the harness plugs into the existing door opening handle assemblies...patience, long thin screwdrivers and a cuppa....eyeball what you're trying to push to disconnect, then do it by feel to unlatch the 2w connector....no real trick, just have a few goes and you'll find a knack that works for you. Pulling away and down the white plastic water drain cover is well worth doing, just make sure the mastic sealing strip is ok when refitting back to the door skin.

The two additional VW latch and motor parts are simplicity themselves, literally minutes to install (you'll need a 12-point spline bit to undo the latch assy on the back of the door, not a regular 6-pt torx bit). The only other thing to do is to run the supplied +ve wire from Pin2 in the B pillar (the connector that plugs into the electrical receiving "socket" that the sliding door goes into) to a permanent live, fused supply. In my case there was a mostly empty bank of blade fuse sockets under the passenger seat (2023 T6.1 T28 Highline). Tessataped it alongside an existing harness down behind the B-pillar trim after unbolting the bottom of the seatbelt, and under the carpet to the seat area.

My approach was to strip the sliding door the night before; mine was insulated and sound deadened, and has a stowed folding table in it, so all that needed removing to access the electrical units and the factory harness. Having had a look and see where everything was to go, I then got to it properly the next morning. Bulk of the work was the Sat morning and it took no longer than 3hrs including removing the passenger seat to run that power wire.

I took a load of photos and sent over to Paul, for inclusion in a some kind of instructional doc that I think he'll include in future kits, just to save him answering the same questions each time!

It still makes me smile each time I shut the door, best upgrade so far.

Dunno why but i've not spotted this thread before .
Really like the idea of not having to slam the door each time especially on campsites .

It’s quite good, the function of my mates t6.1 is much better though, I’m not sure if that’s just the way I set it up or if it’s just better/different on the newer van

Very interested in this as an upgrade, if you don't mind me asking what sort of price are we looking at?
