PPF - worth it for my van?

Hi everyone - a few months ago I got my first transporter, which I’ve loved. It’s a 6.1 Kombi that I haven’t done anything super excited to and don’t plan to really; I just use it for work and taking my toddler and wife around.

I’ve only recently learned about paint protection film, as I’m new to the world of detailing really as I’ve not had a vehicle ever worth close to this.

I do get concerned about all the hedges you end up having to clip and the potential stone chips. However after buying it at 4k miles and it already up to 9k miles (how the hell did that happen?!) I’m not sure if it’s more of a thing you get done straight out if the factory. I have a few stone chips already frustratingly.

The cheapest quote I’ve had back is £1600 for the front (nose and bonnet) plus side mirrors. It’s also another approx £250 on top for prep and paint correction but that all depends what they think when they see it.

All subjective so no right or wrong answers but would folks consider that worth it? The van cost me £45k and it’s entirely possible the t6.1’s hold their value super well but it’s still a hell of a lot of money. I’m aware the van was an investment but I’m also now in the situation of having to spend lots of money because I spent lots of money

Curious what folks think and also would love to know any folks experiences with PPF - it still seems like a bit of a Wild West out there.

Thanks

I've never had an issue with stone chips, but I was taught to hang further back from the car in front than most folk do.

I'd keep the £1850 in my pocket and in the unlikely event of minor damage there will be plenty in the kitty to sort it. In the event there's no damage its £1850 to spend on other things.

But it really is your call. If it helps you sleep at night then go for it.

Got mine done a couple of weeks ago full bonnet and bumper from All That Gleams near Guildford and used the xpel ultimate plus with 10 year warranty.. self healings.. will see over time! did only have 400miles on the clock and my previous van suffered quite a bit with stone chips as only ever gets used on motorways runs / long journeys.. paid just over £800 so not bad considering some quotes!!

Got mine done
All front and sides
Same material as the post above
Has a really nice shine to it which will last a long time
Did it for exactly the same reasons as yourself and mine had 400miles on it at the time
Not planning on changing the van ever - is a third vechicle for us
Cost much more than above though!
Cleaning is a lot easier.
I would definitely do it again
