This could be just a grumpy old man rant but but this week I discovered some seriously good travel news, for me. On Wednesday I took the train to collect the van from my son who’s had it while I couldn’t drive. The forty mile Paddington to Reading journey on the Elizabeth line is free using the Freedom pass. 
The bad news is that I got a reality check when I had to fill the tank. Back in the days of flowers, flares and cheese cloth shirts, when I first started working it would take me over six months to earn that sort of money

Just looked at Costco Oldham as I may be passing there later. Diesel is 174.7 there, yet down the road in Trafford it is 178.9.
£101 per litre, diesel, north of Mexico.

Yes, the world price of crude oil was higher in 2014 than it is now, yet we didn't see petrol and diesel prices so high.
