Seat covers - how to look their best?

Greetings.

Recently fitted new seats to my van, and covers.

Does anyone have any tips on how to take the sag out of seat covers?

I’m talking about the fact they don’t obviously clip onto the bars of the foam like the factory ones, so I can’t expect a perfect finish, but the sag annoys me?

It could be sorted with a few loops from a needle and strong cotton, which shouldn’t wreck the factory cover, but, there is still a risk.

Any tips?

I took the seat base off, and REALLY stretched the cover and used the round holes / cutouts under the seat to stretch them to, rather than clipping the elastic to each other. That way I got way more stretch and a better fit.

For the sag in the back, I removed the plastic back cover, and just pulling the cover through seemed to be enough. The cover was already joined together so there was no way I could pull the front and back together more. I’ll see how the back fares, and if it pulls through and sags a bit in the middle, I’ll maybe loop some strong stitches through the cover to pull it tighter.

I’m happy for now though.

I think they are there to stay. For me it is a small price to pay to protect them against life, the universe, the family and the shedding dog.
