Service Plan or go independent?

One thing to note about All In, is that the servicing is just the basics. They'll still want to up sell you brake fluid, dsg service, air con, haldex and so on. I reckon that as you are paying monthly and there is nothing to pay on the day, some people will just open their wallets and say "help yourself".

I've got All In on the Tig, essentially for the warranty and the basic parts of the service. All the other jobs, my lad does at the garage he works at.

Just looked on AA site for mechanical warranty as an experiment (My one is still under warranty for a bit). They do warranties for 1,2 or 3 years.
Bear in mind - doesn't include oil change/service/MOT so have to add that on. But for my 2 yr old van the quote was approx £580 to fix pretty much anything (including DPF/oil seals and other stuff not included with VW all in). 6.1/highline/t30/150 value given = 35k
Add in service + AA breakdown cover = say £500ish
So not much more than 1k for 1 year comprehensive mechanical warranty.
Will be more for 3 year old van - but worth having a look. Maybe there are other better value 'All in' warranties available.
Guessing the price goes up after a year quite substantially - but if anyone out there can be bothered, it might be worth getting quotes for 3/4/5 year old vehicles just in case.
Don't need to give any details except registration number even though it asks for them. Just use lots of xxxxx@xxxxx.xxx (love and kisses)

Lets say it comes in at absolutely max of £3000 (more likely £2000 to £2500, but lets say 3k so we don't fall out) over 2 years - that includes servicing/MOT at independent, AA breakdown and full mechanical warranty (including a generous increase after the first year's warranty).
Expensive, but at least it covers £1K DPF/EGR/Battery, oils seals etc etc.
Might look around when the time comes and see what options there are.
That is £2k (but more likely £1000 to £1500ish) more than 'VW all in' over 2 years but covers everything (?) or do these guys also sometimes wriggle out of a deal after the cash has changed hands?
