Show Us Your Mountain Bikes :)

So, following on from my bike post above, here is the results of my first ever race... 11 broken ribs (3 were multiple breaks), broken collarbone, broken shoulder, punctured lung, 2 chest drains, 9 days in intensive care, 17 days in hospital and 2 months off work - Ouch! :(:):):)
Woah. It seems somewhat perverse to “like” your post.
You weren’t kidding when you said in July that it was your first race and you were throwing yourself in at the deep end. Sounds almost like you threw yourself at a tree or a wall. Maybe you are old enough to have known better??;)

Reminds me of a crash I had when I wrapped myself over a tree stump and broke 2 ribs, I thought that hurt so hate to think of the pain you must still be in.

Hope you are up and around soon.

Hope you didn’t dent the bike!

Oh and one slightly buckled rear wheel!!!
OMG! Feel for you...

Hope you had, got, getting the care & attention you need and "Painkillers" to recover from that @WheelieBealie , your a lucky guy to recover from the sound of it, hope you get back fighting fit soon.

My mrs is recovering from a broken collarbone, 2 places and only one cracked rib & thats bad enough at the minute, warned her not to go jumping!!

Glad the Halifax girder is ok:thumbsup:

Wow dude, sounds horrendous!

I have zero bike skills, I never go fast enough to do myself any damage when I fall off other than a few bruises and scrapes.

1 week in and already had 2 very minor injuries (nothing will compare to poor @WheelieBealie)
1st was falling off because I couldn't get my feet out of the clips quick enough when I missed a gate I was trying to grab!
and yesterday I thought I would ride down a bridleway near us that I haven't been down for 10 years and it was a bit overgrown and because I bought myself some trendy sandals with SPD's on the bottom my feet were rather exposed and got them shredded by brambles.

Oh well, learning lessons all over again :)

Two things:-
1. The word trendy and sandals do not belong together. I’m amazed you weren’t wearing them with socks!
2. Sandals and SPD’s equally don’t go together.

When did you break all of your toes @Loz?

It's been a while since I have been on a mountain bike, as I have tended to focus on road stuff, with a bit of cross to mix it up. But the urge to get back on a mountain bike bit me earlier in the summer, and I dug out my 2007 Specialised Rockhopper hardtail. Sadly I realised that it was going to cost me a fair bit to get it going again, but the good news was that it might be cheaper to get a new bike, so I did :)

Here it is - a Boardman hardtail. Not as posh as some of the other bikes here, but it's the engine not the bike right ?

Been out on it a few times locally, and remembered why I liked mountain biking so much. It's so much more forgiving than a cross bike on the rough stuff, and more capable. I expect to have this strapped to the back of the T6 before too long.

There's not much that surprises me these days, but there really is such a thing as SPD sandals.... wow, just wow!:rofl::rofl:
