SIDEBARS HEADACHE :(

Hi all
I have purchased some siderails for my T6 66 plate.

Firstly I lost a T Bolt in the sill, but main problem being the front of the van, when dropping the undertray and remove the rubber seal for the TBolt, in the otherside of the hole where I would expect there to be a second hole to fit the bracket there is nothing. Am I losing my mind? I have attached a picture of the bracket. I haven't seen these before

thank you for your help!

Try dragging a magnet along the sill to coax the t bolt to the hole?

There's lots of youtube vids. My personal choice would be to watch Colin at Yorkshire poptop adventures. He's no a pro but you can see how it works with the setup he got.

Cheers mate
I watched this video and he has different brackets to me. I've only seen this brackets with mine. Unsure if im missing a trick as the lack of two holes at the front is baffling me!

Are they really VW brackets? Mine were long strips, with one hole behind the other. These are the ones I think I used, looking towards front right wheel.

Your brackets look designed to go over the joint, with holes side by side - I can’t see where they would go.

See this is what I was expecting. But my brackets are design for a second bolt to go through also on the other side of those rubbers. But no hole is there. So I am completely baffled. Maybe they've given me the wrong thing?!

There the same brackets i fitted to mine. They line up with the rubber grommets as per the instructions( if you have them) The undertray needs to be cut out to mount them.properly. Haven't got any pics of fitting them unfortunately.

The instructions are printing in black and white and they contradict themselves, pretty poor instructions to be fair. I dont mind cutting out under tray. At the front of your van on drivers side did you have two holes? One either side of the thin piece of steel that runs down front to back? I only have one so I am not sure if i am completely misunderstanding something

Yes the instructions were quite poor just like the ones I had.
I'll take some pics in a bit and post them up for you once my lad gets back with the van.

I Also drop a T bracket through the fixing hole I wrapped a small magnet in duct tape and fed it through the hole. It worked for me

Those are not standard brackets..

You must have a different set than normal?

Unless they only use one fixing point at each end.... That that's unlikely.

What do the fitting instructions say?

This we're ours.....

I am starting to think they've given me something completely different as the holes on the bracket dont align with holes under the van. On the front bracket there isn't even two holes, there is on the back but at the front only one. So confused.

I was given a set of side bars a few years ago, but they didn't come with any fixings. after searching I couldn't find anything with the type of brackets the side bars had so I jacked the side up removed the under tray and made some card templates and cut them out on the plasma machine at work. When folded they did look very similar to the ones you have. I didn't know where they were supposed to fit on the body so I drilled the sills and installed nutserts, bolted the on and re fitted the plastics after trimming out some small slots.

There the same brackets i have on mine. Think I got my steps from vanstyle f I remember right, the odd looking one went drivers rear. Post up the instructions you've got.

You got any pics of yours ?

Instructions, probably not. I'll try and get some clear pics of the brackets though but It's a bit hard to see as the plastic guards are fitted.
