Sound Proofing T6 Cab

cheers for that, did you take off the panel under the door card or go through the speaker hole?

yea, looks a big job taking panel off, can you get your hands in through the speaker hole to stick the silent coat ok!

Did the back, roof, tailgate and sliding doors on my kombi with Silent Coat and then a foam backed material (can't remember the name), then carpeted the panels. Made a huge difference inside, easy to talk to passengers. Only thing is now noticed when parked up in a rain shower that the cab is very noisy compared to the rest of the van! May get round to doing the front, but looks like a lot of hassle to remove the head lining.

When we do a full sound deadening job on a t6, we do;

Floor
Doors - inner and outer
Dust seals
Roof
Skuttle area

We use silent coat.

Looks for pics on our Facebook and Instagram to see how far we go. It works really well when the whole vehicle is done and dodo lined as well.

I done my T5 with the noisy 2.5, it is so much quieter. I didnt go crazy but got good coverage.
It's like flying a cheap 2 man air plane when I get in my T6 so I need to do the T6.

I've done the doors, and the wheel arches from underneath. Is it worth doing the floor under the cab mat?

I changed my wheels recently (OEM 16” Clayton’s to OEM 18” Sportlines) and the noise has massively reduced now I’m running Pirelli instead of Goodyear.

Interesting - I always assumed the larger the rim (and therefore the thinner the tyre) the greater the road noise.

My current T5.1 has 16", but the T6.1 I have on order is the 199PS engine and only comes with 17". I was genuinely concerned about the increased noise, but maybe it'll actually be better.

Plus the dealer told me the T6.1 is much quieter than the T6, and the T6 was much quieter than the T5.1, so I'm expecting a significant change. Can't wait!
