Sound Proofing T6 Cab

I've done the doors, and the wheel arches from underneath. Is it worth doing the floor under the cab mat?

I’m in exactly the same situation, I’ve significantly reduced the cab noise mainly through doing the doors and front arches (externally). I don’t have any other reason to strip the cab out other than sound deadening.
Taking a look at the heavily ribbed steel floor and the very thick foam rubber mat I’m wondering if deadening the floor pan is worth it?
Any comments from people with before and after experiences of just doing the floor pan.

I think the result may well accord with the law of diminishing returns. I soundproofed nearly every surface of my T5; in the cab area the floor had the least effect. As you've already said the doors and the arches made the biggest impact. My Caravelle doesn't have a great deal of anything under the fitted cab carpet but the carpet is backed by heavy rubber, then there is the two seats on top of that. It's a very nice place to sit, even with BF Goodrich tyres humming away. However, if you've got some of the stuff left over you might as well use it, I would...

IMO made a massive difference 111.JPG

When we do a full sound deadening job on a t6, we do;

Floor
Doors - inner and outer
Dust seals
Roof
Skuttle area

We use silent coat.

Looks for pics on our Facebook and Instagram to see how far we go. It works really well when the whole vehicle is done and dodo lined as well.

Anyphoto's of the scuttle area? Do you do it from the engine bay or remove the dash?

I've done my doors, side panels and tailgate. I've recieved the stuff to do the floor next, but I just need to start.

Great pics. It’s taking me an age to do. Wheel arches a pain it’s like a mad patchwork. Quick question do you all remove the jack fixing point? Thinking of keeping it as the jack needs to go somewhere?

Personal preference. I've seen lots of Vans with the jack mounts ground off for a nice clean look. Obviously you'll need to stow it somewhere....

We did the rear only ...front was done when new electrics fitted..wheel arch was a real pain ( used the thicker black sheets)

How you getting on? Just removed the. Seats and rubber mat. How far do I have to go removing more trims to get the best result?

While your got it all out take out the lower dash to get up the bulkhead, b pillars and ceiling and do them too

Thanks, I've take the B pillars off too. Did you put anything on top of the silent coat before replacing the rubber mat? I want so sound/insulate if possible (want to yse the van all year round) I'm thinking I cant go to deep or the stepps wont go back (unless you just get longer clips?)

Nothing under the rubber floor just loads of silent coat! I did the backs of the trim too on the B pillar and lower dash to stop any rattled or vibrations etc basically slap it anywhere that looks reasonable

I removed the lower dash which gives better access to the bulkhead. You can add almost 1/2 way up the dash which is why I was thinking of doing the top section from the engine side (scuttle area).
Bad a big difference so far.

Has anybody done the scuttle externally and bonnet with Dynamat Xtreme and Dynamat Hoodliner?

Is the scuttle area also known as the plenum chamber? The bit which houses the wiper mechanism and allows access the shock top nuts? If so I did mine today, after reading a thread on here about it. I used silent coat and a foam sound absorber. Not tested yet but I will soon.

That’s the one, I was thinking of doing the whole bonnet as well.

Might well have been your post @StudleyGlass. I thought it would as I remember starting it up when I had the plastic cover and wipers etc off to get to the shocks and being amazed at how much noisier it was with just that rubber seal missing.

I've done the bonnet underneath the covering that came with it a while ago. Just put silent coat on. Sounds better when you tap it but not sure it does much for the interior. I had a few sheets left over from a pack and a spare afternoon...

How did the scuttle sound deadening work out?
