T32 20" Tyres - What Do You Use?

This will address you tyre pressure needs :

With regards to size. That size technically too big but I run it and it's fine. Certainly better than 275/40 my wheels came with.

I run 245/45 on the front and 275/40 on the rear as I have staggered wheels. The 245 are perfect on 8.5j wheels.
I’m running 38 psi and they wear evenly (since my hunter realignment).
You might struggle to get other profiles for a T32 as, like me, you require 103 load rating or above.

48 psi seems high to me too.

Are tire worn out because of centrewear? Then lower pressure gives more even wear, but more fuelconsumption, but better comfort and gripp. Slipping tires because of low gripp wear tires out faster.

Pressure determination is to give the tire a deflection, that wont overheat any part of the tire-material, driving the speed constantly for wich it is determined.

This deflection is made by the pressure/load on tire relation.

I estimate that for normal loading and speed 99mph or lower, your tires can do withsomething in the 20s psi.

Can make you a cold pressure/axleloadcapacity list for your old and new tires.

Then you " ONLY" have to determine the axleloads in your use 99% acurate, the most tricky part, and your responcibility.

As long as you did not have acurate axleloads, you can look back the GAWR's in my list, assuming you never overload the axles, and dont drive faster then 99mph, not even for a minute.

The 103 loadindex stands for maxload 875 kg / 1930 lbs and your size most likely XL, then maxload is given for referencepressure 2.9 bar/42 psi, and speed 160kmph/ 99mph. Searched with google and is XL.

Made list for that with maximum reserve at wich comfort and gripp is still acceptable.

For that I give 90% of calculated axleloadcapacity for the cold pressure.

Behind cold psi in kg and in front in lbs

Hi everyone
I’m after some advice regarding tyre size best for 20” wheels, my van is a t32 with coil overs lowered about 60mm. When I bought wheel and tyres last year the advice from the company I purchased wheel/tyre package from was to go for 245/45/r20 103 rated, now I’m reading and watching YouTube and especially THQ recommend 265/40/r20
But when I call tyre places in and around Durham they all tell me that is wrong and should be 275/40/r20 so what are the recommendations on here any advice appreciated do I go for
245/45 as already have them
Or
265/40 as THQ
Or
275/40 as everyone else on YouTube ie Steve Field, dubventures etc
Totally confused myself also seen a van similar to mine on 20” LEIGHTON alloys running the 275’s
Thanks hopefully will get some advice from the forum picture is mine now

Sorry for hijacking into this post but looks as most relevant a thread for me to pose a question on the forum. I've got a set of vw alloys that I'm advised tyre size 270 40 r20. Quite keen on the off road style tires (goodrich, toyo etc.) But seems closest they do are 265 50 r20. Wondering whether anyone has any experience similar to this scenario and hopefully can advise. I was given the alloys that came off an old transporter, so hoping should be all good. Appreciate any recommendations.

265/50 R20 needs ideal rimmwidth 8.5 inch.
Allowed between 7.5 inch and 9.5 inch.

270/40R20 measure rimm ,ideal 9.5 inch rimmwidth, and between 9 inch and 10.5 inch allowed.

So search for rimmwidth on the rimms, to see what is possible.

Ofcource it also have to fit , so touches nothing, also when steering.
