Hello All

I have just upgraded my trusty vw t4 syncro to a t6! I've been doing alot of reading on this forum but keep going around in circles!

The t4 is raised and had some AT tyres on and I want to do the same on my new t32. Its a 2017 LWB 4 motion which was lowered but I've had the standard springs put back to bring it back to a better height. Question is what wheel and tyre combo to go for. I've loved rolling around in the T4 with a much larger than standard tyres as the ride is much better ( I had 215/75 x 15 tyres on this)

The T6 currently has davenport alloys on and id be happy to keep these or swap them out for some standard 16" steels that i matt black. Tyres wise I've been considering the General grabber AT3. at 225 / 65 x 17. (108T) but unsure on how this will affect me speedo wise. I mostly do motorway miles with the odd bit of dirt tracks and muddy fields so dont want the BFG as i think they are too full on!

Is it worth swapping to a 16"s? i seem to be able to find more rated tyres in 17" ? Also i read something about the DSG gearbox and bigger tyres?

Be great to hear peoples opinions

many thanks

16's are unlikely to fit over your brakes.
DSG will be fine with oversized tyres, just your speedo will be a little out.
Others will know more about the different tyre options.

Welcome to the T6 gang.

I couldn't find a 108 load rated GG AT3 225/65/17 they all seem to be 102 !; which if this is the case, will not work for your T32 axel load rating.

The GG AT3 235/65/17 does have a 108 rating which is plenty for a T32, and with standard springs should work fine, not sure if you'll need spacers on; but it would defiantly look better if you are using standard T6 wheels or wheels with similar ET off-sets.

Just got a new T6.1 T32 4motion DSG for work. The factoray 17 inch rims have 215/60 R17 T109 tyres.
looking to fit a set of 18 or 19 inch rims without dropping the tyres load rating if possible or at least keep it as close as possible and legal, and not voiding any VW warranty etc.
its a work van that will do a lot of motorway miles but also go off road down on farm and the occasional landfill site so not looking for anything skinny!
thanks in advance!

Newbie here to alloys and wheels! I drive a (2017) T32 lwb converted to campervan and I am wanting to upgrade the original steel wheels. I have been researching and am beginning to understand all the different wheel and tyre options and like others finding it a challenge to find something suitable that I like. I have found some alloys that I like, they are load rated correctly but not available in the size suggested on my vehicle sticker. PCD and central bore are also correct. But I have a couple of questions.
  1. The sticker on the vehicle door pillar says I can have 205/65 R16C 107/105 T 6.5J x 16, 215/65 R16C 106/104 T 6.5J x 16 , 215/60 R17C 104/102 T M&S 7J x 17, 235/55 R17XL 103H 7J x 17 or 255/45 R18XL 103H 8J x 18. Does this mean I can't legally (for insurance purposes) put 7.5J x 17 on? The new alloys are 7.5J x 17. Why would the sticker info jump from 7 to 8J?
  2. The offset on my original steel wheels is ET51 and the alloys are ET55. Will this be a problem? I hoped not as it's only 4mm difference and I don't intend to make any other modifications.
Just in case any knowledgeable person wants to check the wheels out more, here's the link Ronal R55 SUV (Crystal Silver) Alloy Wheels - Rimstyle
Thanks for any advice :)

Hi,

The label on the door pillar gives you the options that would have been available direct from VW at the time the van was built and covers all of the factory fit wheel options that could have been fitted. You don't need to worry about this for insurance purposes, there is no problem with you fitting the 7.5J.

Any change to the standard wheels and tyres should be declared to your insurance company, they will list it as a modification and you will be covered. Some policies differ in the small print, but in general terms, if you declare the change and they accept it you are covered.

The 17" size you are looking at with the ET55 should be no problem for you and will fit straight on. These wheels are also available in 18, 19 and 20" sizes if you fancied something a little bigger.

I can supply the Ronal wheels and match the price from Rimstyle, but whether you want to purchase through me, through them, or if you decide on something entirely different, if you need any more help, feel free to ask.

Cheers,

Chris.

Thanks very much Chris for your help. I might get back to you re supplying the wheels: I live in the highlands of Scotland and I am going to try and stay local to start with and see if any of the local tyre suppliers can also obtain wheels for me if I give them the information needed and if their prices are competitive. If needed can I private message on this forum?

Private message through the forum is fine, enjoy the new wheels when you do get them and continue to enjoy the highlands! Some stunning natural beauty up there.

There sure is Chris and we are looking forward to restrictions being lifted so that we can take the camper out again. I have found you on facebook so might message you on there if that's OK.

Evening all!

I'm dicking around trying to decide what 19" rims to fit on my Indium Grey and I'm wondering if there are any good sources for 19" Banded Steels?

Alternatively, anyone fitted bronze to their grey?

Looking at the offset of the Brock B37's I think they're ET50 (compared to ET42) on my existing Wolfrace Munich's. Given that I'm fitting 19's and the wheel sits 8mm further in, do you think I might have issues with rubbing on the inner wheel arch? Should I consider spacers?

Also, 275 40 or 255 45? I run 255 40 18's not, but the 275'spresent less of an error on the speedo....
