Did you get this sorted? My t6 has just done the same. I’ll need to get access to manually put it to cold as it’s 20degrees outside, probably 40 inside
‘Easy enough’ to get to then?

Good evening, I have had this fail on my 05/21 T6.1 camper van, I realise this is an older thread but as the van only has only done 10k it has waited until this week to fail.We repair these with genuine parts , modify it so hopefully it dosent go again, takes around couple hours on a 6.1

I have bought the updated part (7LA 898 002A ) and have the lower dash apart, you mention that you modify the part, could you explain how please.
Any tips you have will be very much appreciated, many thanks , Rob
Yeah one of the worst transporters I've had regards build quality. Mine was built 2020 so factory shut, maybe they got local farmers in to build them during lockdownA well documented engineering design issue. Like all automotive manufacturers it will not be covered outside their warranty. So always get a good aftermarket warranty. This is the sham of all manufacturers building parts to the bare minimum standard. They don’t build them like they used to.
Hi could you pm me some info on this , got some spare time coming up and want to get this fixed before winterPm me a picture of the motor when you got it apart and il explain what we do
Hi RsladThey never used to sell it on its own. There’s a guy on here that 3d prints the part and they are spot on. I’ve changed a few now without removing the dash.
The flap actuator potentiometer will be gunked up with melted grease, so it can't read its position properly, so the motor keeps driving past its end stops, which will eventually snap the plastic arm. I fixed mine by removing actuator, opening it up, cleaning it, replacing snapped arm with one of Tony P's 3d arms. Used VCDS to re learn end stops. Fingers crossed, its been okay since. They put too much grease in the flap motor actuators.I've merged in my stand alone thread to this one as it seems I have the beginnings of the same issue and (hopefully) that may forewarn others.
I did have the van centre look at it last Thursday during an end of warranty service but they said there was no damage and re did the calibration. It was fine on Saturday but by Sunday it was back to the odd behaviour that started 1-2 weeks ago where the motor and flap seem to be in constant motion with a whirring/clicking noise several times a second - I now think this may be what I had tried to trace a little earlier as a loose wiring rattle behind the dash.
I'm going to follow up with the van centre as warranty ends this month.
