T6.1 new order delays

Currently in Australia the situation is ..
Ordered 1 December 2021 told I’d receive it around mid September at that time ,
Now been informed it is to be not delivered but built in May 2023 and who knows how long for delivery.
What pisses me is that on Volkswagen Australian configurator it shows if you order now you’ll get it around March next year !
To be honest or not is that’s the question?

I'm in NSW and ordered Sep 21 and was told a year wait. Last time I checked (in March) was on track for Septemer 22.

I've just spoken to our campervan converter to get an update on our LWB 204 DSG 4Mot Highline (order confirmed with VW last June) and was disappointed to learn that the previously estimated production date of week 22 (early this June) has again been moved back by VW, this time to week 29 (second half of July) with the order status still showing 010. It seems that the LWB versions are suffering the longest delays according to their sales team. I was rather hoping it would have been better news.

VW must be struggling to source the extra 40cm

They certainly must be as my LWB has taken nigh on 14 months...but at least I have a confirmed build date.

Other good news from the dealer today is that my order WAS selected by them for price protection!! :somersault:
What is this selection process you speak of? Do the dealers have a say in who does & doesn't keep price protection? o_O

Evening,

I’ve just had an email to inform me that my van has a “confirmed build week 22 (30/05)”.

Based on the experiences of this group, is that likely to be locked in, or could it be subject to delay?

Also, what is the approximate time delay from build week to delivery and PDI completion? I seem to recall it was about 2 months, but there is so much conflicting information out there and much of it probably out of date now.

I’ve not heard anything about a price increase - yet! If the price changes I am likely to cancel the order as I was in two minds about cancelling anyway before the email arrived. If it hasn’t changed then I will probably take delivery and make my decision when the van is sat next to current car on my drive… I’m guessing there is likely to be a bit of profit in the van if I sell immediately, but that’s not my main motivation - my priorities have changed since placing the order and I am really happy with my current car. First world problems!!

If anyone can answer my questions to help my understand how long it will be until the van is ready to collect and I need to make a final decision, that would be really helpful.

Thanks

Did you buy it at a dealer event?

Thats a million dollar question @Bav...I guess they may do and use their discretion I suppose. I have not read all the small print in my contract (does anybody?) so i'm just going by what the dealer has relayed to me. Maybe he's feeling particularly sorry for me as when I ordered 14 months ago there wasnt half the problems there is currently....who knows.
Thats just another consistent inconsistency of the #vwvan lottery!

My dealer also relayed that the van will be about 4weeks from build to hand over. He also said that just because it goes into build anything could still happen with the parts supply chain and if they run out of a specific part it will just sit on the line until these parts re-appear. Fingers crossed! ;)
