T6.1 new order delays

Can any body advice what happens with reg documents once you have converted to camper van do dvla do any think or do you just tell insurance company it’s worth once converted cheers

Read that, or save 3 hours of your life:
  • Basically, DVLA won't register you as a motor caravan
  • Send off anyway as you should register the extra seats (if you have extra belted seats)
  • You will get 'Van with windows'
  • If you meet the DVLA definition of motor caravan (internally) the motor caravan speed limits (i.e. car speed limits) will apply, you may have to argue the toss if you get caught by an automatic camera (e.g. on a dual carriageway) who thinks you are still a van, but perfectly above board and well accepted by the Police, by all accounts.

Kombi is being delivered next Wednesday. Feeling elated, worried, devastated then elated again.. Emotions are running wild. Other than a house, I've never bought anything this expensive (even more expensive than planned)!

I'm curious about the extended factory warranty. Has anyone here added it?

I want to do so, as I'm planning on keeping the van and it's added peace of mind. It's £480 for the extra 2 years and up to 80,000 miles.

They have a servicing deal too which is 2 services for £178. I assume that's good value?
It also transfers to a new owner, so helps if you sell it.

Well... they will, but only if your van meets their "external appearance" criteria, which includes a high-top roof, motorhome-style graphics (whatever those are) and an awning.

Allegedly!

More than one report on the forum that they won't even do that!

Times must be hard at VW, I paid £99 for two services back in 2020. Still, it’s good value even at the increased price!

Good and bad news today.

Status 20!

The first good news since ordering my van nearly 14 months ago..I have a confirmed build week 20 (May 16th)! :D

The bad news is the inevitable price increase! Don't yet know how much yet but really late in the day to be telling me this I feel and in the same email too! Double edge sword.

Dealer saying price protection removed for all orders not delivered by the end of April.

That must be bitter sweet for you. Let's hope the ownership experience in sweeter than the order fulfilment experience.

My company has 5 Transporter vans on order, one was due about now, the others in September. Been told that wiring looms are the hold up, made in Ukraine.

Wiring looms are not sourced from factories in the Ukraine any longer - production was shifted to other countries a few weeks ago. There are, however, still significant delays due to reduced the production capacity of looms.

Just had update from Autoebid about van through Ashford. Order late July 2021, T30 150 DSG highline in bayleaf green. Had provisional build date of week 11, this moved to week 12 a few months ago.

Update now showing in build
Picking up Monday

Feeling extremely nervous as never spent this much on a vehicle & technically downgrading in mod cons. Like when was the last time I used an actual handbrake or had to put a key in to start!

I guess can always sell if not for us!

Hehe, that's the spirit! ;)

Seriously though, you're unlikely to have had a vehicle that is as flexible and has so many bases covered. Presumably you had a use in mind when you purchased and that use was one that your previous/ current vehicle(s) couldn't fulfil(?)

Oh yes definitely - to be able to have a cup of tea sat in the back after a dog walk on Dartmoor :D

I’m sure the worries will subside when we finally have it, long time coming

How long you been waiting and what did you order?

Thanks. Good to know.
I'm not due for a replacement yet, only 26 months, 67000 miles

Nice spec that - similar to mine. I ordered in May and I haven't had as much as a provisional build date yet :(, though I did get a call from the dealer to inform me I'll be paying more when it does arrive .

Mine took a year to arrive but it was well worth the wait.
