Wot dat den?Production Point 5
Any idea what the MY23 changes are?I’ve just heard this morning from my converter that the estimated build week for the LWB 4Motion 204 DSG Highline PV base vehicle (ordered in mid June last year) has now been put back to Week 36 (it was previously Week 26). Assuming it actually goes down the line in September, by the time it‘s shipped to the UK, PDIed and converted, I reckon I should take delivery just in time for Christmas. On the upside, it‘ll mean it’s a 2023 Model Year with a ‘72’ plate though.
.... And soon I hope!See you on the bright side... hopefully!
No idea but it’s usually the point (after the summer factory shutdown) where revisions are incorporated in the vehicle specification.Any idea what the MY23 changes are?
Sorry 16months ago .Hi. My order includes a heated front bench for my 199 now 204 kombi 4motion that was ordered nearly 16 months ago. Nobody has ever said it is not possible. Last times I checked it was on the configurator. What you can't have is the bench with storage. Hope that helps.
What does the dealer say when you ask for an update. That’s ridiculousHi. My order includes a heated front bench for my 199 now 204 kombi 4motion that was ordered nearly 16 months ago. Yep almost 16 months. Well actually it will be 16 months on the 28th so it is going to be over 16 at least when it gets to me as I still have never had a build week. I just get a monthly up date from Autoebid to say no news !Sorry 16months ago .
Think you must be holding the title now
@Stu90, my journey is similar to yours, albeit I'm 2 months behind you (14 months on the 20th). I too have never had a build week assigned and I too get the pointless "no news" email from Autoebid every month.Yep almost 16 months. It must be the spec that is the issue. Kombi Highline LWB. 4motion dsg. Power latching all round . Twin slider. Tow bar. 6 seat with heated fronts . Tow bar. As time goes by you sort of get used to the wait....... well as long as my current vehicle keeps going.
I understand that if the order status is ‘20’ or more then the factory build spec is fixed and can no longer be changed. If your order status is ‘00’ or ‘10’ then option changes are possible. That said, I suspect some dealers may use this as a means of increasing the selling price and/or renegotiating any agreed discount. There is some anecdotal evidence to suggest that changing the original order can negatively affect the anticipated production date, particularly if any changes involve any additional components that incorporate microprocessors or changes to the wiring harnesses. As as from experience in working within the trade, there are certain points in the build process when they become none spec changeable,so double check your orders b4 it's too late..dont leave till it turns at the dealer in 18months time, then complain.
When I wanted to add front side/curtain airbags to my order, the dealer informed me that this wouldn't affect build scheduling (as my order was still sat at '00'), but that I'd have to pay the prevailing price for my van (& all the options), rather than the price when I placed the order. As there had been a price increase since I originally ordered, this made the addition prohibitively expensive, so I declined to change the order.I understand that if the order status is ‘20’ or more then the factory build spec is fixed and can no longer be changed. VW like most manufacturers, make changes to the vehicle specification as they think necessary all the time (eg deleting the Sport function from DSG transmissions). We shouldn’t be too surprised though; the small print in their brochures tell us this. Caveat emptor as they say.
