T6.1 new order delays

Like @Ozi said maybe it really is just a lottery! This is my fifth factory order from Vw for vans and they have varies in time from about 7 weeks to nearly 30 weeks and without fail the communication has been pretty poor.

I can only summise that its:

a) the microprocessors that are holding up components that have to think.
b) emissions for the 204.
c) both.
d) lucky dip.

Currently own a 2015 T5.1 4 motion 180 Bitdi Kombi, which has been excellent.

Ordered my SWB T32 199 4 motion DSG Kombi at the beginning of October, a few options ticked, sat nav, heated seats and washer jets, towbar, unglazed barn doors, metallic paint. Had a phone call from my vw dealer out of the blue yesterday with an update, had initially been given build week 9, its now build week 6, thinks it should be here for the end of march. Asked about the 199/204, he reckons that its only California and Caravelle that are affected, and that it will be a 199 engine avoiding the extra delays.

Another Call from VW Inverness today, my van is now at the port waiting to come across to the UK.

He couldn't speculate as to when it will arrive, but at least its on it way now.

Forgot to ask if its a 199 or 204 that has been built.

His allocated build slots have all been cut, and they are filled up to august for panel vans and Kombis.

So I finally have a build week and unlucky for some its 13. Not that I know when that means I will actually see it. And I got this by contacting VW etc myself. The VW Van centre is still choosing to ignore me. Ordered 2nd week of Jan.

Doesnt make any sense at all, I ordered 22nd Sept from VWVC yet am only provisional week 14. To date my build weeks have been: 5,7,6,12,16,11 and now 14 to say I am pissed off, no on here's fault but dont understand why a van ordered 3 months later could be built before many older orders. (mine included obviously) By the way Sunshine_ GB if it's not "Status 20" take the build week with a proverbial pinch of salt.

Agreed that doesn't make sense. What did you order? I ordered a T32 200PS DSG in his defence he did say thats the week its scheduled to be built so as you say I wont hold my breath.

lwb T32 Fortana red 199 dsg Kombi, 2wd with quite a few options added.

Mine is a 199 4 motion panel van and is nearly built so I don’t think it can be.
Mines a 199 motion dsg panel van with loads of options added. I did ask if it would now be a 204 and they said all production now are to the latest spec so I presume a 204

Your build being 2 months later than my van could well be the 204. The factory build passenger vehicles first with 204 and eventually all vans

So, latest update from VW chat - still saying my unconfirmed week 9 build slot (I.e. from next Monday 1st March) isn’t yet confirmed, despite being consistently week 9 since 2nd Feb.

You’d think that this close, it would be confirmed by now, particularly given the fact that some orders have confirmed build weeks later on in March already. Didn’t think that a white SWB panel van with just a few fairly simple extras would be quite so challenging to confirm a build date for.

The whole VW order and build prioritisation process is a complete mystery to me! All part of the rich experience of buying a VW van though it seems - simple, it has not been.

Yes I think you would have had build confirmation by now.

A - phone me back and have a long chat, telling me all I wanted to know confirmed build week etc etc?
or
B - did f*** all without the courtesey of calling me to say sorry but he has no news?

None Randolph its been demolished it was full of rot, just like my belief in the fact leaving a message would deserve a reply

I wonder if all countries customer services is as bad as ours in the uk. I would be interested if vw German were aware? Maybe they’re just as bad

To be fair, I think the problem is at the factory end in Hannover.

The factory seems to call the shots in terms of when they eventually “accept” the order from the dealer (which seems to randomly take from 2weeks up to many weeks), through to when build weeks are assigned both provisionally and confirmed.

Customer services database here seems entirely fed by what the factory does or doesn’t share .....which just seems to be random as there’s no apparent logic to it.

I’m seeing very little evidence of the infamous German efficiency, that’s for sure!

Before ordering my van from a dealer, I phoned a local dealer who gave me no enthusiasm in ordering from them as they were not even interested in wanting to know my specification on a van
