T6.1 new order delays

I was told by VW chat last week that it could be at Emden for 7-10 before shipping. Hopefully sooner, but having had one pleasant surprise of VW getting ahead of schedule In the last week, I’m trying not to get overly optimistic at this stage.

So if mine departs Emden before Monday/Tuesday next week, I’ll be very happy indeed.

Perhaps I am jumping the gun and will be next week. I’m just happy that it is built.

Ozi, Have you got any upgrades on the cards once you have your hands on the new van?

These latest jubilations regards deliveries have prompted me to write to be expressing my dissatisfaction with the whole debacle on the random lead times we are experiencing. I followed this up with a call to the sales manager at my dealership. He appreciates my frustration and had been copied my e mail. He is going to discuss the fact that my van is now the longest unfulfilled order on their books: with the VW area manager to escalate my case. We had a good discussion regards specs and agreed although my van is well specified with options, some of these options are standard on other t6.1 variants. He agrees that options from the brochure realistically in some form standard otherwise why advertise them. Fingers crossed things may happen and I can join you in actually owning a van. I need to clear the decks as I have so many parts filling garage and house I need space!

It’s actually good to have the parts in stock as these are not easy to get hold of at the moment. I have been collecting parts since December and would find it difficult to buy now as they are out of stock.
Hope you have some good news soon Woodman.

Fingers crossed for you @Woodman Your experience does sound bizarre and I’d struggle to see how they justify it.

And to answer you question @Randolph ......yes, cut the roof off and cut the sides out amongst other things! It’ll be going directly from the dealer in Bristol, down to Devon for a full camper conversion ....which should have started on 15th Feb, as my first order was due to have been delivered in early Jan.

Fortunately my converters (big shout out to Cambee here, who have been fantastic at every stage - and who I highly recommend) have been able to juggle some things around, which has resulted in a few other customers getting an earlier build than they expected, and they’ll slot me in as soon as it arrives. My order woes were definitely good news for a few other people in the queue behind me at the converters, but as long as I have the finished conversion for the summer, I’ll be very happy.

I won’t actually see the van myself until I collect it around end of May/early June when they’ve worked their magic and turned a standard white PV into a lovely bespoke two tone, pop top camper for me. And then the adventures can begin!

Are you having a half wrap? having thoughts about that ourself. Our White LWB T32 goes into build this week, ordered back in October.

No, it’s getting a paint spray job on the bottom half. Did contemplate a wrap for a while, but decided paint in the end.

@Woodman out of interest, did the guy you spoke to give any meaningful reason why your order was unfulfilled for so long compared to their other orders?

Doesn’t sound like they’ve been doing much proactively at their end to chase it along until you fired off that email earlier. Begs the question why they hadn’t spotted this fact before you raised it.

No, seems as bemused as me. Hopefully it has sparked some additional pressure on VW see if anything changes now.

Got my provisional build date today for week 14. My dealer seems to think they’re giving dates out for worst case scenarios and in most cases he’s dealt with they’ve been moved forward. Looking at around end of April early May to take delivery.

Ordered 23rd December.

@Stuiemc keeps us all in the loop please, because my van was ordered 3 weeks later and I've been told Oct at the earliest.

No but I have been told that it is at Ebden for 2 to 3 days so I’m assuming it is on the water!!!

Mine is now released for export from Emden, and just waiting assignment to a ship.

That’s a bit quicker than they were suggesting last week, so possible it might actually arrive in UK as early as next week. Let’s see how long it takes to get a slot on a ship, but so far so good.

Looks like it rolled off the assembly line last Friday, so 5/6 days in total to transport to Emden and clear for exit.

Once I know it’s on a ship I’ll update so others have a sense of reality versus the quote last week of 2/3 days to get to Emden, and a further 7-10 to actually leave Emden.

It will probably take a week at Humberside also.

Not sure they get any additional protection - they simply get driven in to a dedicated new vehicle transport ship. The ones I’ve seen are just a huge ferry basically.

Hi all,

We had confirmation last Friday of a week 10 build - which I understand is this week - will keep you updated on any progress. Its a dealer order so not sure how long its been in the system- we confirmed in October but it had been in the system prior to that.
