T6.1 Retrofit Reversing Camera

Whoop - it works! took some fiddling but got it working… having realised that just pushing the blades into the back of the quad lock wasn’t enough, you have to pop out the connector block, flip open the sides and they lock in. ODBeleven coding done, sorted! I dropped the +12v down to the fuse box, last job is wiring it in neatly.
Hi iam fitting an oem reverse camera on a t6.1 2021 I have everything done apart from the 12v live feed it said sc18 but the fuse box is different from t6 to t6.1.

We do a very good quality I universal camera that very discreet and can be viewed in our Facebook or Instagram shop. This would need coding in however but it's a 10 minute job to code.

These are £80 but with the 15% T6 Forum discount currently on this takes the down to £68 and free shipping.

i just need some help here

will any universal reverse camera work on the t6.1 as long as the van is coded to have the reverse camera turned on

is it just a matter of sending the video wires to the right connecters pins on the back of the radio connecter

is it then ok just to power on the camera from a feed from the reverse light in the back

It needs to be NSTC format,

Do not take feed from reverse light as it will be ok when engine is off but the image will get distort when engine is running due to the bulb failure system.

Take a ignition feed for camera and ground

We supply cameras with a easy plug and play CanBus adapter ,

Will need coding

how much is the camera with a easy plug and play CanBus adapter do you have a link for it

on ebay we have these two options

this one is listed as covering t6.1 with the mib2 radio, which needs coding after install

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

this one seems to have a converter box as well as the harness, that does not need coding

this video shows someone fitting the adapter box, i have the same mib2 radio in my t6.1, there must be a easier way then having to take the radio apart to to fit that extra board inside

Yes, you can use any universal reverse camera as long as it is in NTSC format, the video feed goes into pin 6 & 12 of the blue plug of the quadlock connector on the headunit. You can also take the feed from the reverse lights as long as it goes through a 12v filter as the BCM sends a pulsed signal down the reverse lights to monitor if the bulbs are working or not…if you don’t use the filter, the image will flicker when engine is running.

It will need coding but after that it will work great… I do this multiple times a month on the T6.1 and never had any problems so far.

That's exactly how I did mine, used carista to activate it and works perfectly, total cost was under £30

is there any pictures or diagrams for guidance, i have not yet taken mine apart, but having pictures of the pin 6 & 12 of the blue plug of the quadlock connector would be usefull

has anyone on here done a how to guide on how to fit the camera, then go threw the coding to get it up and running

whould i be right in thinking the same sort of thing is needed to be done as in this video for a passat b8, of course different coding for the transporter t6.1

I only have these pics of the one I did on my t6.1.
Hardest bit is cutting the 41mm square hole in the tailgate. Everything else is just unclipping trim and removing ply headliner boards for harness routing.
Then coded with my obdeleven pro dongle.
