T6.1 What’s this live feed under my passenger seat? [Merge]

Please excuse my ignorance, but if I understand this thread correctly, this cable means no need for threading another cable from the engine bay to the driver’s seat. If so, it would remove so most of the pain associated with installing a leisure battery

Correct.

Hi,

I have some cables terminating in under the passengers seat in my 6.1 shuttle and would like to know if they are useful, perhaps for the leisure battery. Also, there are two cables attached to the battery bus bar that are labeled 3 & 4, are these related, does anyone know what they supply?

Images below, thanks!

unwrap those cables under the seat and see if they conect to anything.

some more on that here:

and here:

The other thread shows that the SJ fuse box ontop of the battery may feed Engine equipment.

and that the fat red feed cable under the seats may be fed from the main fusebox under the battery (same as the T6)

so you need to unwrap it and check, and possibly have the battery out to check the other end.

Thanks @Dellmassive - If you look closely the fat darker cable ends inside the tape and doesn't go anywhere so I'm thinking it could be reused for the leisure?

yeh . . . just unwrap it and see if its ladled.

if its fed from the main battery fuse box then you can use it as a main battery feed for DC-DC etc etc.

if its not labelled then you will have to test it with a mustimeter. . . trace the cable back. check for power. remove fuse. check for no power. check contnuity of cable.

its most likely under the batttery.

I‘d be interested in knowing the answer to this. Strange thing is though on my van cable 4 looks exactly like this but cable 3 on my van looks black with no label.

I think it slightly odd that a couple of hefty live cables just have a bit of tape over the end (unless there is a cap under the tape)

Hello all. I have been quietly reading posts on the forum and planning some of the stuff I want to try and do to my T6.1 when i managed to get one. So now I have the van I was having a poke about and found a couple things I’m not sure about! If anyone could share there knowledge on this I would be really great full. I have a sort of buzz bar thing on top of the battery and a taped up cable under the double passenger seat. I assume these are for a second battery?

The thing on top of the battery is a fuse box.

The taped up wire varies van to van. It’s probably a permanent live wire.

Hi there again. So do you think it is ok to take the feed, with its own fuse, from one of the spare feeds to my c-tek dc to dc charger? Aldo I eas going to put all the wires in the double seat under the floor when I put the seat swivel in. The Liesure batt and the c-trek will end up under the drivers seat. That’s the plan anyway. I appreciate the advice you guys give and hope to contribute more during my build. Cheers
