T6 'KEY NOT DETECTED' MESSAGE scorpion S5+

Hi,
Some advice on this issue would be most appreciated, thanks in advance...

I'm currently running with only 1 key for my T6, as my spare key locks & unlocks the doors but won't start the engine. I get a 'No key detected' message when I try to start the engine. I'm wondering whether the key needs to be reprogrammed by VW or whether it has something to do with the Scorpion S5+ immobiliser/tracker that I had fitted a few months ago. Does the Scorpion installer re-programme the VW key to work with the immobiliser? If so, it would explain why one key works and the spare doesn't. He didn't ask if I had a spare key when he fitted the S5+. If he doesn't re-programme the key, then I assume it needs to be reprogrammed at the VW dealership. I've already tried the quick reset video's on YouTube, no no joy. Also rang Scorpion this morning but got an out of hours message (sunday). Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Is the spare key just a dumb key that opens the physical locks?.

Or is it a remote blipper key as well?

No key detected is saying that the van can't see the rf imob chip in the key..... Ie a surf key.

No, my spare is identical to the key I always use, so it has a transponder chip inside the case. I do have a 3rd key that only opens the doors. So yeah, the spare is a remote blipper key which works the doors fine and switches ignition lights on, but won't start the engine.

The rf imob transponder in the key must be knackered then?.

You need all keys to delete and reprogram.... But if the van can't see that key. You won't be able to re add it.

Does the RFID need the key fob battery to be good to work or is it passive RFID?

Good question.

I was under the impression that the imob RF tag was powered by the rf energy created by the loop around the key barrel.?

And that the battery in the key fob only powered the remote unlock button transmission.

I've had the rf chip out before on another car... It was about the size of a grain of rice.... And stuck it on they key barrel so as to use a temp surf key until a proper key could be arranged.

So a flat remote battery won't stop the van starting.
