Hi again,

I almost have all the parts to do first stage (only headlamps) and 50% of second stage (auto range control).

Range control module was easy to find pretty cheap in nice condition (34€ with plug) because it is a cross over part on VW group, several cars as Polo, Passat, Ibiza, A1... share this reference.

But rear and front leveling sensors are exclusive parts for T5 facelift w/xenon and T6 w/led... and the couple cost around 400€ at VW dealer, there are spare recoveries within internet but in very poor condition (rusted or partially broken)

@Robert could you please help me with the following point, please?

At the purchase parts list you wrote:

2 x 7PP941571A - power module for low/high beam (7PP941571AE should be used)

Maybe you used 2x 7PP941571A recoded by yourself via VCDS as 7PP941571AE?

A german seller tells me that the module 7PP941571A could be recoded via VCDS as 7PP941571 AE/AC/AF, etc... because the hardware is the same and the index changes are only internal software tunning. But he doesn't want to tell me the way to do it

I guess that this coding could be done trough some adaption channel in the new module which appears when you connect the headlight range module to the BCM (Adress 55 on VCDS - Headlight Range J431)

Not sure at all, but the cost of purchasing two new "A" index modules instead of a couple of "AE" or "AC" (etka places these two indexes as direct spare) is relevant.

Other adventure could be buy two "A" modules and if finally are not possible to direct use or recode, sell by eBay or similar. Seems to be a wide market for this reference.

Thanks in advance for your experiences ;)

Regarding power modules I have bought and used 7PP941571A instead of 7PP941571AE. These modules are connected directly to each headlamp but not to CAN bus and there is no direct communication with them nor configuration using VCDS.
These 7PP941571A power modules worked for me so I would imagine they should do the same for anybody else.;)

The part numbers of the level sensors for RHD are 7E0941273 and 7E0941274
Part number with an A on the end are for left hand drive and fit on the opposite side

As @Robert said the 7PP are not programmable, they are set at the factory and i assume they would need specialist equipment to reprogram but i can confirm that you can use A or AC or AE (and possibly others ?) but the other power modules are not so easy, 4G0907697F is the one according to VW, plenty of sellers quote F/G/H as being interchangeable but they are not and do not all have the correct pins on the bottom
I think F and G will work but cannot confirm and i know H will NOT work

@Robert @Pauly SUPER :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks for your inmediate answers!!!

Solved: I will buy right now the A index power modules :)

Thanks also for the links and info about leveling sensors. Anyway, I have some annoying information about this parts, maybe you have some info beyond:

This August I've been at Bosnia-Hercegovina with my van. Observed some T6's along the trip, most of them camping or camper area neighbours.

And several of these T6's had LED headlamps. Looking underneath I personally checked the following information:

- 2 LED RHD T6 (1 Multivan / 1 California) had leveling sensors on RIGHT side.

- 1 LED LHD T6 California had levelling sensors on RIGHT side as well.

- 1 LED LHD T6 Transporter -long wheelbase- had sensors on LEFT side, nothing on right.

- 1 LED LHD T6 Multivan had sensors on both sides (owner told me that the van has electronic suspension control)

Checking ETKA (russian link known by everybody) for MY17 specifies A indexes of sensors (LH) for PR-1BL/PR-1BQ production codes. Decoding the production codes at PlanetVAG.com - VW & Audi PR Code Search we have:

PRCode: 1BL = Suspension/shock absorption (closed-loop)
PRCode: 1BQ = Suspension/shock absorption (closed-loopcontrol)

What matches my observations with exception of the long wheelbase transporter...

Maybe VW made a change during production or maybe LH & RH sensors are the same just mirrored and could be used according the van configuration. In my case of course I prefer to use LH ones to avoid longer cables to the control unit under steering wheel.

The joke is that my van have room for sensors on both 4 suspension control arms (mine and maybe also every existing van)

Think I will purchase "A" indexes for LH as you recommend, tryout and report my result here.

Don’t think it would make any difference what side they were on as it only measures the front to rear balance
I agree though I would stick with having them on the left for LHD I think that’s how they would have been from factory

The two T6 LWB 4Motion LHD Transporter panel vans with factory LED headlights I have had a look underneath - leveling sensors are on RIGHT side. MY16 and MY 18. But as above shouldn't make any difference what side they are.

EDIT a few days later: Checked three more T6 LHD Transporters with factory LED headlights. 2 SWB + 1 LWB. MY 18. Leveling sensors on RIGHT.

Thanks, I'm decided to buy left ones for my LHD.

After @mmi post, I suspect that LWB I've seen is another retrofit case. Van was parked near Sarajevo (with Norway plate, long trip) and I did not meet the owner.

Fortunately, he also didn't meet me with my head under his van  should be not easy to explain that I was just looking the position of one sensor...

hello all - ok been through the whole thread but didnt find a conclusive answer...

for the vw led lights: you need self levelling (yes). Do you need washers? I found a legislation stating that if the output is 2000lumens then they must have... im asking now as i have the possibility to get a highline bumper with or without washer..!

This is quite tricky question to answer.
Headlamp washers are a must for all HID lights but for the LED lights it is a must only when the light output is 2000 lumens or more.
In your case and having such a choice I would go for the option with washers, but on the other hand there is no way you could be failed MOT/CVRT/NCT for not having headlight washers with LEDs. Basically there is no tester who would know if your LED headlight produce at least 2000 lumens or not.

ok - but do we know the lumen output of the vw led lights? surely this is a known quantity..?

I work for an OEM car manufacture and we've changed from HID to LED headlights a few years back. At that time we removed the washer jets to save cost. They are not required for LED lights.

And just to add to @Pauly's statement, VW constantly supplies the same parts to all T6 with LED headlamps. Another words T6 LED headlamps were not upgraded nor modified in any way.

@Pauly when you say early T6's... we have a late 2015 T6.. but when i clicked on the link @Robert has put on this thread for part numbers etc (esp the picture for the levellers), and i click on my van.. i dont get the choice for levellers.

Does this mean that i wont be able to fit leds & levellers do you think? What do i need to provide to be able to tell this? Im thinking holes might not be there to fix things etc..?

Both level sensors are mounted with existing bolts of the suspension system. Only front level ensor requires one extra bolt to go on the hole in the wishbone arm.
Every single T6 can be equipped with levelling sensors and mine is also late 2015 T6;)
