T6 Private Plates

Personally, I wouldn't like the DVLA taking my plates off me and fining me aswell for a non-compliant plate. Thats what they can do....
They can if they get more than one report off the same vehicle. And that depends on a Police force telling them they stopped the driver and issued a ticket/defect notice.
Police normally give you 14 days to make the defect right and that’s it for a first offence, unless they’re tying it in with other stuff. Having a dodgy plate will make you more of a target for a stop too - like having a bulb out. So if the Police see you being daft they’re more likely to pull you over.
Ultimately they can even confiscate your vehicle but I think you’d really have to upset them, on a bad day and more than once for something that serious.
Not something I’d be bothered to risk. The people that look for these things would spot it either way and those that aren’t bothered won’t have a clue what you’re trying to highlight with the odd and illegal spacing.

I think if you wanna run the risk of illegally spacing a plate or adding number plate screws to make them look different then thats up to you .
Personally i think if you need to do this then your just trying too hard.

Yeah, they come across as being a little too N33DY.

I live near Birmingham. The way I see it is, police won't pull me over for one letter slightly moved, because the clean air zone cameras still recognised the plate.....and more importantly. I'm one of the only people driving around Birmingham with insurance :think smile bounce:

I got pulled over in Cambridgeshire for having a small numberplate fitted .
He turned around and came flying up behind me like i was some sort of armed robber.
I actually got stopped twice for it . .
Didnt help when i stopped to give way at a pelican crossing and the same copper pulled up facing me ...

I just took my plate off, had it in front window for about a month now, mainly for 2 reasons

1) the sportline bumper has only been freshly painted a month

2) I'm purchasing a private plate after all the eBay scams on my van

I got pulled a few years ago for this plate P 10HN G on my motorhome, which I then put on my Triumph Rocket 3. When I sold the Triumph I left the plate on it but now I wished I’d kept the plate.
It stood for Pat & John Green

I’ve been on the DVLA site for the last half hour to look at plates for my new bike.
JG04 PAT is available - might suit you? but seems pricey at £599.
There are so many to choose from at £250 but playing with the advanced search is one of those internet wormholes.
I’m off to walk the dog before I ruin my eyesight.

This is available for £399 but my van is only dropped by 65mm, I'm nearly 40 years old & I don’t wear a baseball cap backwards. So if anyone is interested, all yours (init)
