Tailgate opens from the inside but not the outside?

Just an update - in case anyone is looking at this thread in the future. The part 7E0927235 arrived (took over 3 weeks) and was fitted without issue and all works as expected now. The hardest part was clipping the backplate back on - with the double-sided tape etc. What a relief. I'll do a quick write up of the 3-week+ delivery issue elsewhere! Thanks again to @Pauly a new member

Message from a fresh new member, this theat is really helpful, similar problem overhere, similar corroded pins, micro switch working now and than. When I connect both pins of the blue connector the hatch opens. Ordered part 7E0827566C, and now we wait….
To be continued, thanks for now.

I did get a phone-call from the warehouse, it was the wrong number, this was for a VW Caddy, the right one is: 7E0927235, once installed, everything is working fine again.
I opened the old faulty one and noticed a lot of moisture inside..

Just in case anyone refers to this in the future - the whole assembly looks like this:

Holy thread resurrection Batman, but this is really useful. I did wonder if there might have been a problem with the actuator rod coming adrift on my van, but as the internal switch operates the release (and I can open the tailgate), then the actuator and rod must be fine, and the external switch must be knackered.

The moral of the story is USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION
