This years camping in the UK :-(

Not quite ready for my Nordic ski poles and Werthers Originals yet and get genuinely depressed watching those Sunday night adverts for fiord cruises where the colour saturation is turned up to 11.
Just come back from five nights of aquatic hell at Barmouth, proper 50 shades of grey drizzle but have to say that apart from the state the bogs got into after being used by unaccompanied 5 to 8 year olds it was a genuine pleasure watching the same little nutters hurtling around the site, into everything and not an ounce of malice in them... teenagers on the other hand!

That's the beauty of having wheels attached to your tin tent.
We were going to wander through Snowdonia as well as up and down the coast... couldn't actually see those horrendous queues of seasoned mountaineers shuffling up Snowdon shown online as we were mostly in the bottom of the same cloud that was covering them and most of north Wales.
Did manage to get wind burn and something halfway between athlete's foot and hoof rot so not a total loss.
Port Merion was a welcome respite.IMG20210816124344.jpg

We've been on 8 or 9 sites this year, and the main issues are with middle aged poeple getting pissed and screaming at each other. Kids play and make noise but go to bed at a resonable time, pissed 40/50 somethings until 1 am however......

Oh and if you do see us and stand next to our pitch our dog will bark at you until you say hello to her...

I am really surprised about the 'kids shouldn't be heard and dogs shouldn't bark.' Not all parents let thier kids run riot and not all dog owners are irresponsible.

Our kids are free to play within site rules, we are very strict on anything near other pitches or vans (they know my views when they are near ours) and are always in the van by 9pm, yes they climb trees, play sports and socialise with other campers, but that's better than confining them to the van and have them on Netflix or playing video games all day. Kids need room to grow and they need to socialise with other kids.

Looks very nice, I don't think I could cope with a 10.30 departure time though! :think smile bounce:
I only realised yesterday that it was a 10:30 departure when I saw it on the washing-up area wall. It will be a struggle!

There was a camper with a steel-framed awning pitched next to us. No sign of anyone up when I went for a shower this morning, but when I came back, they had packed-up and gone. Is it people like them that encourages site owners to set unreasonable departure times?! :grin bounce:

For a 10:30 departure I’d need to start the day before!

We had a 10am departure in Dorset recently, we left the night before, I’d need to be up at 5am to be ready by 10…..

Now when we used to camp, we would often book an extra night, so whilst it looked like we were being tw@s and leaving late, we were actually leaving early.
we still do that gives the awning a chance to dry off if its dewy or has rained

I’ve just returned from 3 1/2 weeks in Scotland. 4 Caravan and Motorhome sites later and I had no issues. All happy campers, chatting away, no idiots and no yappy dogs. Sounds like I’ve touched lucky.

Wow with all restrictions etc have stayed here in blighty, have been lucky enough to have had 5 different 5 day breaks throughout the so called summer. Not only amazed at cost but with so many by the look of it new campers cant believe how ignorant lots are, I know we stayed at a couple of so called big sites but at Dawlish site one couple had a row after beer oclock and she spent hours sulking in their 20 plate mercedes with the engine running, another group thought it was ok to play loud music until early hours but with 30 deg weather it wasnt major, just spent another time up near Bridlington and again loud music but this time only lasted until midnight (due to security), another tent all they did was swear at kids full blast, argue and swear at full blast about having to walk for a shit..
Whilst at various sites speaking to other people they have found the same over the last few years and pitches are getting more compacted to each other.
Now I know things happen but we have found with so many campers having to staycation they havent worked out how thin canvas is. For the last 5+ years we have always camper abroad but has the english camping really got this bad, or are we spoilt with spacious spread out pitches, everyone is polite with no kids running loose all hours. We only stay in our kombi when we go wild camping or weekend camping but dont really think we would of got much more noise reduction or do we need to fully convert to a camper now we are grumpy old gits !!
Yep. Some morons had a blazing row at 11 last night. f*** off. Leave their engines on to charge their phones. Twats

I think the reason for that is the C&MH sites dont have tents and that's the easiest way into a holiday in this country for the newbies we've rejoined for that reason or go to adult only sites

We’ve been to a few holiday let properties this year and all out by 9am. Not ideal with two teenagers! Consequently we’ve left early evening the night before, as a far more relaxed exit!

It's also nice being home earlier and having all the jobs done by the time you would otherwise be just getting back.
