Im thinking of purchasing some of the transporter hq drl's, in jan 2019 they will have in stock the v2's which have sequential indicators.
Im sure lots of forum users have the V1's , whats everyones thoughts on them and are they any good?
Im thinking that any upgrade would be better than the H4s i currently have

honestly , only marginally better than h4 , unless u put in philips led bulbs then they great ,but the full beam is then worse than dipped and horrible yellow , the led bar looks crap and too doty , they do however look good in daytime when van is off !

Thats a shame, I've never seen any at night but I've seen plenty in the daytime and i thought they look great in daytime.
Which philips led's do you recommend and do they throw up any errors?

Look on travelinlite there’s pics , no errors just a very small flicker that’s only noticeable when I reaally look

  • Philips 6500K led dipped beam bulbs
  • Free Osram Cool blue intense H1 Bulbs
  • Free chrome indicator bulbs
Please note: The philips led bulbs are for off road use only however they will pass an mot because they go through the projector lens and create a perfect beam pattern.

I was reading the above on the travellinlite website, will they headlights definately pass an mot with the led's fitted ?

I was also looking to upgrade to the lights, anyone have any thought's on the Vanstyle lights?
Or are they the same as Transpoter HQ?

I think they do the LED lamps

I thought I would add my THQ light journey on the end of this thread Or should I have started a new thread ?

I ordered the new lights from TransporterHQ 2 tuesdays ago and went for free delivery which the site said would be 3 to 4 days anyways they did not show up so this monday I sent an amail to THQ and recieved a swift reply to which they had disapeared from Parcelfarces tracking and it seems abducted by aliens .
Andrew then dispatched a new set on a 24 hour delivery which I recieved yesterday. (Thanks THQ for sorting it out quickly .)

so a couple of hours in the drizzle and job done I was surprised how easy it is to do apart from the trim clips appear to be made from cheese and i broke one but had some spares so no worries there .

I also made contact to local to me Depron Donkey to do the coding so hopefully soon they will work as intended .

When Darkness decends I will get some photos of the hopefully improved lighting. I did a beam shot of the old lights so will post those at the same time .

You did exactly the right thing by not starting another thread

Photos of lighting are always pretty meaningless as they depend on the exposure setting of the camera but I'd be interested to hear your subjective opinions about them.

what coding have you had to do ? I thought the THQ lights were plug and play ? no coding required ?

They are but by default if you had H4s to start with the dip beam goes out when you turn on main beam, this can be set to stay on with main beam for increased light output

ah ok Pauly , does it make a big difference having full beam and dipped beam on at the same time ? i'm looking at getting some THQ lights in jan 2019 once they're back in stock so is it worth paying for someone to do the coding? ( i currently have H4's)

Are the Transporter HQ lights the same as the ones that Vanstyle sell ?

They look the same but Vanstyle do a extra harness for high/low beam at the same time, not sure which to go for.

I thought the THQ lights had an option for the extra harness too ? Thats why i didnt understand the reason for decoding ?

You can achieve same result, with either coding or extra harness.
All of this is about keeping low beam ON while high beam is ON.

Thanks to Andy for doing the biz and it turns out we sort of know each other too .

ok dipped beam shots are at the bottom
first is old lights and second is THQ lights

main beam is the top photos

Robert
How much on average is coding and is there plenty of places about that can do it ? I intend on buying some THQ lights in jan and need to decide on either coding or the extra harness ??

The Vanstyle harness is switching through a relay,if you set the option on the van would this not overload the cabling??
