Cheers, ill get to the bottom of it. P1010 code and loss of boost. Just out of curiosity was your map done after the intercooler was installed?

OK, so I am having a small issue with my remapped TSI. I’m not saying that it is the map that is at fault, but I feel that the only place I can take it to is the place that mapped it, which happens to be Pendle HQ. If I was to take it to the dealer, I feel they would just blame the map - am I right?
My issue is a hesitation when accelerating under load (so up a hill and/or heavily loaded). I can’t really notice it under full throttle, but it might still be there, I only notice it only under a partial throttle. It feels like a misfire, but VCDS is not picking up any misfires, and I haven’t seen any knock sensor triggers either (both suggested by Pendle).
To further complicate matters, I have an LPG conversion on my van. This issue happens on both fuels though and I always use Shell V-Power. I have also fitted new OEM plugs, but this made no difference.
Has anyone else had a similar problem with their TSI (mapped or not)? If so, was there a solution?
For the record, this issue might have happened since the remap, but I didn’t notice for a while, partly because few of us have been doing much driving over the last year, and partly because 300bhp is so manic that it still feels fantastic on my van, it’s only when I’m not enjoying the full potential that I notice it. Also, of course, I usually use LPG and I have to remember to switch to petrol if I want to be sure that it is not LPG related.
Anyway, the latest from Pendle is to drive it solely on petrol for a few hundred miles to flush out any possible LPG influence and if the issue still occurs get back in touch. I’m not sure how willing they are to investigate such a problem (not related to the remap), but as I said, I don’t feel I can take it to the dealer (which was not an issue I foresaw when getting a remap). Thus far they (Pendle) have been very helpful with their advice.
Did you ever solve this Shaun? I've had the same issue. Changed all the sensors and nothing changed until I replaced the N75 Valve. This cleared a lot of the issues but it's still there just nowhere near as bad as before. I'm thinking now I've changed this I may need to rebook with Martin at Pendle so run the map again and maybe tune the DSG at the same time.

Well, it looks like there are a few people with similar issues? Glad to know I am not alone!

No, I have not yet resolved this issue. My problem is that because I have an LPG conversion (and the symptoms are noticeably worse on LPG) it is hard to pin it down to a petrol/map problem and not an LPG problem. I have driven for several thousand miles on petrol only and convinced myself that the effect was so subtle under petrol that I could live with it and so I intend to ask the LPG installer to try to tweak their map to compensate when I get the LPG system serviced.
In my case the most severe "hesitation" is between 3-4,000 rpm, and it is most noticeable if accelerating moderately up a hill especially if laden (not often the case for me). It seems to start at about 3,200rpm. I once found a long hill on the A590 just before Newby Bridge where I had the (DSG) gear held manually in 5 and the cruise set to 80mph and I could feel the effect all the way up the hill!

I struggled to get anywhere with Martin at Pendle, mainly because of my LPG, so it would be good if someone could take their non-LPG van to him for a careful assessment (& acknowledgment) of the problem and hopefully determine a solution that could benefit the rest of us.

I also want to get a DSG tune at some point, though I am reluctant to go back to Pendle for that.

Oh, and what is the N75 valve?

I had a few issues, One was hesitation around 2-2.5k. but the other was under load uphill (family of 5) or when cruising around 70mph on the motorway. I found it sometimes pulsed i.e light on/off boost when my foot was static on the pedal.

i purchased a plug in tester and it showed a P0299 error (underboost), I then watched a few youtube videos relating to this and it pointed me in the direction of the G31 (charge pressure) sensor. This was changed at VW and they also pressure tested the boost pipe for cracks etc.

After this things felt better but it still hesitated / Pulsed at 70Mph so I then went on to have the N75 Valve changed and now the issue at 70 disappeared!

I would recommend if you change the N75 to buy genuine VW part not OEM

I think one of the above valves was either faulty or on its last legs when i had it tuned by Pendle. I'm now keen to rebook in with Martin now the bits have been changed so he can retune it and at the same time tune the DSG.

My van at the time had 10k (now 15) on the clock 2019 spec. This made 306.6 on standard fuel.

On a positive note when the van is in the upper range it's truly amazing at 4k onwards :O)

here is a couple of videos to cover the N75

I hope this helps you.

I am experiencing similar issues.
10 to 15 percent throttle. 1500 to 3000 rpm.
Not a specific miss, but feels like boost can't make up its mind. It's pulling, then holding back. At 20 percent and over throttle, beautiful. Pulls like a train. Zero misses or holding back.
Coils and plugs are, new.
No issues prior to remap, but could of been hidden at 150 stock spec.
60k miles on van.

Looking at the golf tuners, the diverter valve can be common on mapped vehicles. I may grab a new n75 while I'm at it.

I'm awaiting some advice from the tuner, then I may give it a try. Diverter valve is 50 quid ish, that's usually a sign of a disposable product.

Hi Loopyonion,

The diverter valve was next on the list.

i had a chat with Alex at Forge motorsport (top bloke) and he said that the diverter valve on this engine was prone to failure so they developed a kit.

I'm thinking of booking my van in for them to fit it.

I am also considering having them fit the Forge Intercooler at the same time :O) - Would love to hear from other members to see if this is worthwhile.

here is a link to the Kit at Forge:

That's good to know. Mine has been fine. I looked at the Forge intercooler but went with Wagner as I've used them in the past and they are very good quality.
Not a tuning mod but made a Tsi related change today.

Holy moly, how does it put the power down?

I've often thought about what I'd do if my engine was to pop, I'd actually be looking to see if the Rs3 engine could be swapped in.

That's impressive results.

I had the tte 450 turbo before and made 420 and it went pop so I decided to go all in lol
