Ok! had the TVS re-map yesterday....
Main issue for me before was premature upshifts and slogging around at 1100rpm! (I'm going put slightly larger radius typres on soon so that would only get worse) That is fixed, with rpm never going below 1500, and keeping up with downshifting as speed decreases. (that rpm might be different for different engines - mine is the biturbo - so there is good torque at that rpm). Also noticed better response when on ACC, with downshifts made to get back up to speed when traffic clears or you button up the speed. Off the line was more responsive too, but haven't really put this to the test tbh.
Smoothness of shifts was unchanged - still nice and smooth - didn't catch it out at all. I didn't have a probem with jerkiness before though. An argument could be made that it is overall a smoother experience as there are less changes overall, and there isn't the slogging.
Only very, very minor downside i have noticed is that at some slow urban speeds, like 15mph, it might rev a bit higer, so tiny bit more engine noise, but this is protecting the DMF and means you don't have to shift again to pull away. So not really much of a downside at all having said that!
Def reccomended overall. Bognor Motors were effiecient and professional - would reccomened them too.
After your team applied the software update today to my late T6.1 today, I can safely say that I am very pleased.It only the very late T6.1s that we are having issues with, due to covid, Brexit Blah blah, they couldn't get the files, but they are catching up now.
Well worth doing, will transform the drive of the van in every way. Driveability is all you need up to and including stage 1 tune. Stage 2 tune and beyond, with big BHP and torque then stage 2+

Since I had my van it always behaved like a nervous person being shouted at! If I buried my right foot, it would make lots of fuss, dither and then eventually deliver what was required of it but is all seemed very revvy, almost like it was confused!
My drive home from @BognorMotors today made me realise how bad it was, as the gearbox behaved like it had attended a training course and could actually do exactly what it was told with some confidence! (Time will tell if this is going to result in lower MPG, but trip home was all ok with no discernable difference in MPG.)
Why does everything that works properly got to be so expensive?
Are you sure that the specialist that you used hasn't dropped the ball here? My experience is a country mile away from what you describe.Just incase it helps anyone else with their decision I have a 21plate T6.1 4motion 199 twin turbo van.
I Was very disappointed with how it performed from new, firstly with the van option you don’t get a sport mode so only have the option of D, the gear changes were all over the place and you tend to find it would change up gear far too quickly and if you needed to put your foot down to get going it would drop too many gears making lots of noise but going nowhere.
I had Ecotune in Glasgow install the driveability upgrade from TVS on it in December last year. We did have some issues with compatibility and I had to visit a 2nd time however I think that has been sorted with TVS now.
Overall I am still not very impressed and would say it definitely needs more work. If you start stationary at a junction and floor it the van definitely puts the power down better and will hold the gears for longer but only when flooring it. If you just accelerate normally it’s hard to tell much difference.
And also of your sitting at say 50/55mph on a motorway then put your foot down it now only drops 1-2gears to where it should and you instantly have power whereas before it would drop an extra gear, make a lot of noise then change back up to where it should have been.
My main frustration is with the downshifts. I find if you coast up to a junction or roundabout waiting for a gap to go then accelerate the van takes far too long to find the correct gear then actually pick up and go to the point that you have to be very careful when pulling out into small gaps because I have no confidence the van will actually go! I fit understand why ut doesn’t downshift as your slowing so it’s ready for you to accelerate.
I think overall had I driven one with the TVS map before I paid for it I don’t think I would have bothered because it really hasn’t improved the driveabilty enough to justify the cost. I’m not saying it’s done nothing but when you read all the posts and their sales pitch I definitely expected it to be better.
What's your frame of reference in terms of how you're hoping the gearbox should behave? Are you comparing it to other vehicles you've driven or just to how you wished it would behave? I'm really happy with my TVS software as I feel it has greatly improved the general shift strategy for 99.9% of my driving whilst making the box's weak points no worse. I'm happy to admit it's not the best auto box I've used both before and after the TVS upgrade and for me that's mostly due to the way it deals with abrupt downshifts when wanting to pull out quickly or overtake, however I think this is just the nature of DCT's in general and probably more so in a van which could be loaded to over 3 tonnes where it wouldn't be too kind on the drive train to rapidly re-engage the clutch during a downshift.Just incase it helps anyone else with their decision I have a 21plate T6.1 4motion 199 twin turbo van.

I can’t say for sure but they are a reputable company, there was an issue with the first software which they couldn’t get onto the van so I had to wait a number of weeks while TVS reworked it then I had it installed in December. They had further issues getting it onto the van on the day but did manage after a few hours. Without driving another t6.1 it’s hard to know what to expect but I wasn’t blown away.Are you sure that the specialist that you used hasn't dropped the ball here? Just driving a lot of other vag DCT vehicles over the years and Iv never experienced so much lag/hesitation and sloppy changes. Whatever has been done does help with changing up gear. Its the lack of downshifting and delay when you do a slow rolling start at a junction or roundabout where the van just doesn’t go. I’ll have a look into that and give it a try thanks. Anything that might help would be good.I’m also happy with the TVS dsg map, the lack of hesitation when approaching a junction was pretty good on my van when it was new, compared to a couple of 5.1’s I’d driven that were verging on dangerous.
Now that I have the TVS map the correct gear is already selected for the vast majority of situations and the gearbox actually uses the engine torque and holds a gear rather than pointlessly cog swapping into lower gears.
There’s a dsg adaptation reset you could try, takes about 500 miles to calibrate to your driving style.
From memory, ignition on but don’t start, accelerator to floor for 30 seconds, turn ignition off and restart.
Pendle maps are absolutely garbage!!! And I've worked with someone from pendle ,I thought they had damaged quite a few engines?? Utter garbage!!LV are in bed with Pendle, can’t imagine you’d have too many issues using his maps as he’s well established.
How else to you pass all them gases quickly ? Dpf delete pipe can be removed and DPF put back on in 45 mins ? You map an engine it will burn more fuel then more regens and when you regen it throws more fuel in to hit temps ? Lot of fuel , and then if you switch engine off during regen you could end up dumping some fuel into oil ? Then oil contaminated I've seen it happen on a few .It doesn’t look very professional if they have to delete Dpf (mot failure) egr (soon mot failure) and Ad blue (mot failure as well?).
Of course the engine will run miles better. But they don’t play a fair game.
