Upgrade Reversing light

I have a tailgate braking light fitted with a reversing camera and linked into my Kenwood 8019 head unit. Camera picture quality is excellent in both daylight and night time.

I have the optional original fit reversing camera linked to the navigation/radio T6 Executive. The main problem that I have with those, is the position of the image just over the gear leaver. It is way, way too far down in my opinion. Why did they not mount the radio sat navigation unit, much high up on the dash? The other thing after driving in the wet muck of winter the image becomes blared. I agree that the image when clean is very good. the unit is fine for parking lots but not ideal for long reverses down dark narrow twisty roads in the wet.

If I need to reverse a long way in poor conditions in the dark. Particularly off road or on minor country roads, at the moment, I stop and mount a good quality magnetic LED inspection lamp on the tail gate or rear roof etc. Occasionally I just lean out of the window and mount it facing back on the door. It just depends where I am, what it is I hope to achieve and how dicey the situation.

I saw your comments about lots of reversing on another thread today. Sounds like you are covering a lot of distance in reverse!!! ;)

I travel frequently, on single carriage lanes. That have few opportunities to pass. Many folk just sit and panic, only a few make the effort to retrace their steps. Others make an absolute hash of it. It is often better or quicker to just do it ones self. Some people do not even see a genuine pull in, they drive past it even when they see a vehicle approaching. Then they sit there like an absolute lemon, with the pull in only a few meters behind them. One often meets farmers with cattle trailers and it is unfair to expect then to reverse far on poor roads. Mostly though, farmers are exceptional, at reversing trailers. Naturally one pulls into the ruff when one can. The other thing is, I live completely off road about a mile and I do not mean a nice gravel path either. If some one else is coming down with a tractor then someone has to do something! It is just part and parcel of living in remote countryside.

I’ve used these bulbs in my own van and customer vans, they work very well and are extremely bright. They are in stock now.

Bogao 1000 lumens Extremely Bright Error Free Canbus 921 912 W16W 45pcs 4014 Chipsets LED Bulbs For Backup Reverse Lights, Xenon White (Set of 2) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B075FLZ6S1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_vmD4FbV5J9DF1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Works now. Doesn't show its a 955 though which people have mentioned above? Will give it a shot though - for a T6 2017. Thanks @ChrisR

Does anyone know why vw do not sell OEM rear LED lights for barn doors ? Its such a shame as I love the new 6.1 rear led's.
