Upgrade Reversing light

....I know, plenty of threads covering this. However, just a simple question: I cant spend hundreds on converting to LED or on anything for that matter, so has anybody just removed the stock bulb and replaced with a brighter one? If so, how bright and is there significant improvement? I live in fairly remote part of Cornwall, lots of single track roads with no street lighting etc so reversing at night (frequent) is hazardous and nigh on impossible with current 'visibility'. Cheers

Thanks for the link, but I've trawled through all of the the threads and cant find someone who has just put in a better bulb. From what I can see, people seem to be rewiring or upgrading to led. Just wanted to know if there was a bulb out there that makes the difference. As I mentioned, spent enough on the van, price of a new bulb is my limit!!

A brighter LED lamp will certainly help as it’s, well, brighter but at the end of the day you are still only going to have a single point of illumination so although brighter I don’t think you will see much improvement in light ‘spread’ so without going a bit more in depth I don’t think you are going to see huge improvements
If you really want to improve it I think your best bet would probably be to add an additional light fitting under the bumper wired into the reverse feed, it’s actually a lot simpler than you might think and if you need a hand wiring it up I would be more than happy to assist you (Plymouth)

Mate, thats great info and kind offer. I was thinking this would be a solution and may well need a hand wiring it on! Just need to find a suitable light that doesnt look rubbish. Any suggestions greatly appreciated! I may be in Plymouth soonish as I use GTMotorcycles to service my bike. Thanks again, I'll give you a heads up if/when.

If you go underneath it’s quite exposed so I wouldnt cheap out on the light fitting too much as you want it too last, I would have a look at labcraft or similar they do some nice lights but not the cheapest

Just had a look. Gonna be around £100 for an LED Scenelite, which looks ok. Depends where it can be fitted I suppose. Much extra expense for wiring/faffing?

I can do the alternative plugs with cable to get the 2nd reverse/fog working but its not a P&P harness you will need to remove wires from old plug and insert into new connector etc (instructions provided)
Hi Pauly .
I'm a new member , and would like to say hello. I have a lwb bamboo. I have the same exact problem. I find it amazing that the lights on my T6 are so poor, living out in the country I struggle with the poor lighting, over the new year i drove from Ludlow to Looe in the dark and it was a struggle. As a start I have bought a set of rear LED lights to replace the originals to help with the reversing only to find the plugs are different. Do you know if there is an after market adaptor cable wiring harness ? I will have to save to upgrade the front lights but as a quick fix can you recommend an after market bulb? Cheers

I was driving home from Bala with my dipped beam on and nobody flashed me to say i was bliding em. Mine are h7s. Utter poo

You don't know what 'utter poo' headlights are till you've tried the H4 units with original 'longlife' bulbs! :D:thumbsup:

I’ve had a LED Scenelight installed for a few weeks, wired into the standard nearside tail light loom.
I thought all was well until I was in reverse and indicating left at the same time; this resulted in a bulb failure indication on the dash. When I physically checked the bulbs in the nearside tail light I found that the Scenelight reversing light was flashing at the same rate as the indicator bulb but at the opposite time. The same indicator bulb was also glowing dimly in between flashes. The dash was showing the indicator operating at double speed as the Scenelight was also flashing.
When the reversing light was on without the indicator the Scenelight was working well but still with a very dim glow on the nearside indicator bulb.
The Scenelight was wired +ve to the standard reversing light loom and - ve to the common ground wire on the rear nearside light loom.
I moved the Scenelight -ve connection from the tail light common ground wire to a screw on the body, this fixed the problem.
It’s fixed now but I’m unsure why it was a problem.
Any ideas?

Morning all. Im new to this forum. Like everyone Im a disappointed with the single reversing light. One question, I've seen the TransporterHQ upgrades. I am thinking of just sticking with the one light instead of changing wiring, if I opt for the LED ones is there a significant improvement for what is quite a lot of cash. Thanks

If you swap for LED rear clusters, the reversing lights will still be old style incandescent 21w bulbs. I have factory LEDs & replaced my reversing bulbs with Autobeam LEDs.

Welcome to the forum
I can't vouch for the Thq's but I upgraded to rear OEM lights and had to change to reversing bulbs to led because its a standard bulb as with the indicator, but the difference is night and day I no longer have to reverse with just the sensors
