VanMax pop-top..??

Also they don’t do a front cover board such as you can have with Hilo-but I guess you can make and carpet one of those.
I assume you're talking about a board that hides the 450mm or so between the end of the bed board and start of the roof hatch. If so, that's a relatively simple job as long as there's enough room between the bed board and the roof to slide the 'hatch' back. Here's a link to a post that I put up when I did the same job on mine - that said, my roof is a Westdubs and their not the lowest profile (second post down from top):

Yes Ayjay, that’s the one. Thought it would be pretty simple to do. I’ve got all this to look forward to now I’ve got a base van to go at.

I know there is a few threads already asking if anyone has any feedback back on the vanmax poptops, but still can't seem to find any.

There are lots of pictures on Facebook but no reviews.

I really like the look of this roof and the slimline concept but I have a real issue with any roof that requires a roof cut in the bottom of the drainage channels because of the bad feedback on Hi-Lo roofs. These too cut nto the drainage channels unlike many of the other poptops out there where leaking isn't an issue.

I just feel it's a recipe for leaks. Is it just me or does anyone else think it's a bad idea or does someone have some good experience with vanmax to convince me otherwise.

Desperate for a slimline poptop and skyline are saying end of the year for their new design.

Thanks

I have and I just don't like the hinge setup inside the canvas. A lot of messing around to close up too.

@Bigsidavies has been to see vanmax and Halifax campers in the past week and has booked his van in with vanmax to get his done. He might be able to give you some info....
I have also booked mine in with Vanmax for mid August, HiLo were too much money and the installer said the quality isn’t very good.

I’ve seen the vanmax in the flesh and I like it. I’m no expert, and I’m not convinced if you spend an extra £2k you’ll get a much better product. They don’t charge extra for scenic canvas or ‘marine’ grade canvas which soon throws a big uplift on price.
I’m trying to think about the proximity of the cut to the edge of the van and I really can’t remember. The nearly finished one I saw yesterday was very well fitted and I don’t see why it would leak.
My thought are that if they leaked you’d know about it on various forums and groups. If not then nobody mentions it. You rarely go on a forum to say that something is working as it should, usually it’s to say that something isn’t working as it should.
Anyway, I’ve booked mine in for start of Sept. call me an early adopter, or reckless ‍♂️, but I’ve seen a few different ones now and I prefer this. If it leaks it’ll be going back-they’re only up the road from me.

I’m not sure who has fitted the silver roof in these pictures (Halifax did the red one as it’s on eBay) but I genuinely can’t see How they’d leak with a whole frame set in and sealed..

These guys install Vanmax and look to be a class outfit. Plenty of pics on their insta account of Vanmax roofs they have fitted.

If only I’d have known they are a lot closer to me ha!!

Hi all.
I have my Vanmax Poptop fitted now, used it for 5 nights last week in some very bad weather.. sideways rain and 50mph gusts.. the roof is great.
The Finish from Iain at Vanmax is great, he is very very busy so the only negative is that he is a bit ‘scatty’ with his dates but he got mine done in time and we love it.

@Rg_ really good thanks, cannot complain about the roof at all.. VanMax themselves have stopped installing to focus on manufacturing which is a sham as he’s done a great job.. but he’ll point you in the right direction..
can’t say a bad thing about the roof, fitment, quality or finish for the money as well I don’t think you’ll get a better poptop..

Thats good to know then. I literally just had a message from them saying they no longer fit at there HQ, looking at HVR which is the nearest installer to me.

Hi did you get the van max streamline fitted through Halifax campers ?
We’re just about to book for fitting but can’t find much on them.
Any feedback appreciated
