I wouldn’t spend good money investigating their issueYeah when i told him he said 'oh it drove straight last night when i took it for a drive...' um apparently not. Stated i have booked into a my local specialist who reaffirmed it should drive straight a true and probably has a bent arm of sorts. ~However i have been put onto a specialist alignment company who is local to me which is good and does the full body alignment test apparently and will be able to tell me exactly whats wrong. from there if its serious i will return it. I guess i shouldn't be having to fork out my own money on this, just don't trust the dealer. Probably gonna be hard work to get my money back if i go down that route
thanks for the advice and input guys - tough road to walk with no idea as to what is going on.
Well, you’re on the forum - one of the best places to be asking about vans for sale!yeah good call and a fair point. Im happy to see what comes out of the alignment geometry check tomorrow. If they dont find the issue i will return for a full refund. sucks as i really like the van, but hey, you are all right and should be throwing the van back at him, i guess another will come up. just cant find one similar on the market for the price point, 2017 highline 150bhp £23k with 58k miles on it.
Thanks for all the input greatly appreciated
Cheers
You’ll often hear of some coming available before they go up for sale or even be offered a “forum discount” by the sellerGotta say it didn’t occur to me be asking about vans for sale tbh
yes very true, I think i definitely led with my heart and not my heart maybe doing so now, gonna see what the results are and take it from there tbh , cheersIt's never nice to read through a thread like this. I went through something similar, but on a very different level - which i am sorting out now. For what it's worth, you need to ask if the insurance company have a view on this and what the impact will be if you decide to sell this - knowing what you know now. Is this a van for life, or might you sell on in the near future for a new project. I know that from learning so much through this forum, I would take a magnifying glass to any future purchases, which may be worth considering....
Let your head lead on the decision making, and not your heart!
So they don’t look brand new no, the left rear has the least tred from the hat I can tell. This could be it. At the alignment center now, will see the outcome and update. Thanks thoughHas it has new tyres? I've had a car that has tracked perfectly but had a bad tyre on it causing it to pull quite dramatically
So i did notice that the front were both different makes and the right had a lot less tred on it. I did mention this when i dropped it off this morning to the garage guy but he didnt seem to really care what i was saying tbh, just wanted to get it to his garage after i took him for a drive to illustrate what was going on. He did acknowledge there is an issue which is a start. however i am not sure how it would work if the worn tyre is on the right but pulling to the left on acceleration, would this make sense or would you expect the worn tyre to be on the left?Has it has new tyres? The best thing you could do now is drop him an email thanking him for taking the time to come on a drive with you and query whether the different tyre makes and wear pattern would contribute to the issue he observed. So i did notice that the front were both different makes and the right had a lot less tred on it. fingers crossed it gets put right and just move on from this
Thanks again

Damn straight! The best thing you could do now is drop him an email thanking him for taking the time to come on a drive with you and query whether the different tyre makes and wear pattern would contribute to the issue he observed.
I suggest this so that you have a paper trail. It is for him to reply denying any issue was acknowledged. Puts you in a stronger position when it comes to "refund" discussions, which is where this saga may end up.
Hi Daniel.
How about canvassing the forum re a full independent inspection?
RAC, AA or one of the specialists?
Garage to agree to put right anything found or full refund?
If the garage didn’t agree it could influence your thoughts.
This isn’t something I’ve tried, but just putting out there.
Cheers
Andy
Spoke to the garage and he said he will get his garage to look at it and will see if he can resolve the issue, otherwise will give a full refund.
at least the option is there.
this sucks..
Daniel, ask for your money back and find another one. Every journey will be a nightmare as you will be trying to find things that don't seem right, and after a few months will sell it on because in your mind something will feel not right. So initially he was happy for me to get an AA inspection and my local audi VW specialist to look at it. I did actually state i was goignt o take it to him on monday, but wanted me to take it back to him to get his garage to look at it which was, interesting. either wanted to save me the time or make sure i wasn't going to pull anything else up to his attention. either way i will be very surprised if he can resolve this issue.
The engine is very sweet on it. gearbox tight and a joy to drive apart from wanting to throw you into the hedge when accelerating!
Thanks
Daniel
