Wash & Wax Time . . . . . . But Which One And How?

What foam are you using and what PIR are you at. The power of the washer should not hugely matter.

Bilthamber auto foam is regarded as one of the best out there and really good value for money
Autobrite magifoam is what I was using, just ran out actually. dilution ratio is just the recommended, 1-2" in the bottom of a 1l bottle. I also got a smaller orifice for my snow foam gun.

This was my foam (best I can get it, and I've tried! although it might be the foam cannon being crap) after about a minute

My washer is only 200l/h and 2.4mpa/24bar which compared to a 'real' pressure washer is pretty low. 130bar and double the flow rate for a proper one.

Saying that, I do have an oldish draper mains pressure washer - I looked into getting a proper snow foam gun for it years ago but could never find the correct fitting for the nozzle - but this was before the days of the stubby gun which I never looked at replacing, so that may be an option!

100% plenty of fittings on Ebay these days. It worth giving it a go. If u do invest in a proper snow foam lance then these are the dogs

This is the fitting on the end of the hose, so if I can get a stubby gun to fit that then I'm sorted.

Ahh, god I remember now why I gave up trying to find bits to fit the draper, even trying to find a gun to fit that quick release connector is a pain! Lost the will to live already!!

Maybe I'll splash out on a nice mains pressure washer over winter...

Just washed the van with some wash and wax, used the new wheel cleaner!, came up well after a week in Cornwall!

Obviously it rained 10 mins before I finished!!¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What I was impressed with was chemical guys extreme body wash and wax used it through the lance mixed with warm water.

I've run out of snow foam now so I'll give another one a try - I do find it useful for softening up bugs and dried on dirt.

Also, fyi - tar and glue remover is excellent for dried on tree sap. Had a couple of spots that had been on the van for a few weeks.

Gave mine a wash yesterday, only took 2-3 hours inc mega dirty wheels with 3000 miles brake dust, citrus pre wash, snow foam, 2 bucket wash, then whilst still wet, gyon wet coat, rinsed with rain water - took about 5 minutes to dry the whole van!

Yes same method I do pre wash, tar remover etc but usually use bilthamber snow foam which does help remove some of the grime but want impressed with the autobrite stuff.
I use Sam’s detailing ceramic boost to keep protection topped up can spray on or thru the foam lance rinse strait off then just use the hose to remove most of the water and easy towel dry

I might look into a pressure washer upgrade over winter (maybe a kranzle if I'm feeling flush...), plus a DI vessel - I live in an extremely hard water area which makes washing a black van in summer a massive pain.

I have a kranzle K10 it the best thing I ever bought apart from my Van lol. I bought mine from Q washers a family run business up north. Their customer service is Epic and what they don't know about pressure washers it not worth knowing.

Cheers, I'll take a look over winter, trying to not spend too much at the moment - it's been nothing but spending on the van the last year!

Just tested the water flow here and I got about 8 or 9l in just over 30 seconds so plenty enough for a 10l pm kranzle...

On the plus side, buy a kranzle and you're set for the next 10+ years!!

Once in a lifetime purchase

Due to work and house extension the van has taken a bit of a back seat so I gave it some love this weekend. Also good way to clear the mind lol. I gave the van a bath followed by poorboys black hole using a da. Waxed with Squid inks wax fisnhied off with concours detailer from The Detail Kitchem. She came up well

My van is always parked under a tree and for some reason this year there is tons of sap coming off it. I’ve no idea why it’s so bad this year but it’s definitely worse than ever before. I managed to find time to give it a wash over the weekend but within a day it’s covered in sap again. I used some autoglym rapid ceramic spray after but I’m not sure it helps and it definitely doesn’t help clear the screen every day!

At my old house I used to park on the road under a tree and had literally thousands of tiny sap spots all over the car. It was the aphids on the tree, excreting a sugary substance. Basically, aphid poo!! Looks like thousands of tiny pin dots all over the car.

If it's proper tree sap that that's horrible to remove, if you let it set for any time you'll need a tar and glue remover for it.

Maybe it’s aphid poo then as it takes a few wipes of the wipers to clean the screen but it does clear. Might also explain why it’s worse it there’s a lot of them at the moment although it doesn’t seem like aphid season to me
