Hi there I’m new to the forum.
I own a 2011 T5.1 that I’ve started to facelift to a T6. The front end is complete. I’ve just started with the rear fitting a t6 tailgate. This was from t5 barn doors. It looks like I’m going to need some help with the electrics. But it looks like there’s help at hand on here.

Welcome @Dazts1 :) I will watch your progress with interest on the barn door to tailgate migration!

I'm from ZA, South Africa, and I have had many VW's in the family, primarily Golf GTi's and Polo GTI's. I personally am an Alfisti, so I like and drive Alfas. But my family has grown beyond the point of a sedan and an SUV is too small. The next option was a Van, or Kombi as they are called here in ZA. I have the T6 Trendline which comes with a 103kw 2.0 BiTDi diesel engine, 7 speed gearbox and front and rear PDC, cloth interior, 3 row seats(front, middle and rear) multifunction steering wheel, 16" wheels...that's about it.

I'll post pics later. The Kombi has 63000km on and its a 2018 model. I have extended the maintenance plan as well. I have many plans for it but also many concerns.

Concerns:
How reliable are these cars? Hopefully more reliable than my Alfa's?
The DSG gearbox...why does it insist on staying in 2nd gear on pull-off?
Front suspension is very 'crashy' is this normal?

Plans:
Lower about 50mm on coilovers
Fit 20" wheels with 265/40/20 tyres
Fit a full Infinity Kappa series install
Fit an android touch screen with rear view camera
Fit Maxton front spoiler
Fit LED's all round and inside...(need advice on this especially on the interior...where do I get sizes?)

I'm planning to share the build on here as I want to complete the above in 2 to 3 months.

The project will be called BigFam T6

So after years with "normal" estate cars I have taken the switch to a T6 LWB Bitdi 204 Sportline combi, why didnt I do it sooner, its taking its time to adjust from a high performance estate car to the van but still good fun and surprisingly agile lol
The mods have already started with a new set of wheels (Jury still out if they go black/grey or not) and booked in for insulation and sound deadening, so far so good

Afternoon all, have been lurking for near on 2 years took the plunge and joined today...

Took ownership of our 2019 T6 (T28, SWB, 102PS, 2.0 TDI, 5200 miles) startline (with AC and reverse parking sensors) end of Oct 2020. When the converter asks what type of basevan we wanted, the list of " must have" was AC and parking sensors... these were the only two important specs I was bothered about, after all, I was giving up my super reliable 10y old 120k miles Skoda Superb Elegance 2.0 TDI 4x4 with all trimmings whilst hubby still drives his BMW. .. oh and colour preferably not white as I did not want to drive to work everyday as a "white van" woman ... well got the "must have" spec and a white PV van in Feb 2020...

Here is Snoopy after the conversion ... I did put the decals on myself... tip... November is really not the right time to do this ...since then I have installed an under engine tray, front bumper carbon protector, had aftermarket H7 headlights fitted, wind deflectors, some chrome styling on the dash, dash & door liners, second door seals ("sounds just like a golf"), had a flexible solar panel fitted, lined the cupboards, installed some coat hooks, put up some remote control/utensil trays, eliminated squeaks & rattles with silicone spray and selfadhesive felt tape, waterproofed the canvas, adapted a heatresistant chopping board for additional work surface over the sink and other little bits here and there... next project is grab handles on the A & B pillars, they should be here next week and maybe I'll will find some time to actually go somewhere with it this year... sorry for the long intro for those that managed to read to the end
