Welcome new members

Morning all, new member and new to this world but can't wait to get involved! Ordered my T6.1 Kombi 150ps DSG yesterday with an expected lead time of Q1 2022 which from looking at other threads seems about right in these times! Can't wait to get it but plenty of time before then to read through this site and get some ideas together. Main thought now is should I have gone for LED lights! I'm sure a lot of you will say yes but I wasn't convinced, already went to the top of my budget with Black Pearl, 2 + 1 second row seats and swivels in the front etc.
Don’t worry about the LED lights because presumably you’ve got H7 on your Kombi. They are adequate and the LEDs are ridiculously expensive. You can change your order details if you like but it depends on your budget. If you can afford them get them because it does add to the resale value. We’ve got a really shitty H4 ones And have decided just to live with them.

When purchasing my 2020 Caravelle a month ago part of the deal was the dealer to supply a full cargo rubber mat, after weeks of waiting they told me there is no such part for the Caravelle so I purchased 3 meters x 3mm and custom fitted my own, came up great.

Yeah it will have the standard H7s which I’ve heard some good things and some bad things about. I’ll have a think about it but really just don’t know if it bothers me that much when you look at the price tag.

My first post on here as I'm about to join the world of T6 owners in a few weeks time. I'm not massively keen on the wheels as I'm one for originality I'm afraid, so would prefer to put the 16" Clayton wheels back onto it. The current wheels are 20" so I'm assuming I would need to get the speedometer recalibrated - does anyone know how easy this is?

Welcome to the forum and really nice van. I do actually like those wheels on it but like you I love the clayton’s and I don’t know why people change them. I know it’s easy to change the management system for dimensions of tires…. Although I don’t know how to do it but I know you just need a simple dongle to plug into your van to change the settings. (VCDS) aka Carisa/OBDEleven.

Helllllo again! I joined the forum in March, and mentioned that we were about to get a T6 (150bhp, DSG) - well, we got the van, but I didn't get around to taking any photos until this weekend. In the meantime, I've just been lurking.

It's been on a few day trips, but this weekend was the first "long-term" trip (3 days!!!). I'm LOVING it, and have been known to sometimes go out and just sit in it (that's normal enough..... isn't it???). Van 01.jpg

Normal round here anyway

Welcome, van looks great, can't blame you for wanting to spend as much time as possible in it!

Hello guys. I have a new T6.1 with a tsport20 pack going on in pure grey Kombi. Does anyone know where I can get pics of such a vehicle? I think it’s pretty good but would like a look

Thank you.
We intend keeping the caravan for a while as we get used to how we adapt to the camper. The idea is that we'll use it for long days out and short stays with an awning, then use the caravan for longer stays.
Welcome.

That was exactly the plan we had when we bought our van in Nov last year. Got one outing in the van before lockdown hit again but it was good enough to convince us that we were going to love life as vanners. So early this year we sold the caravan and don't regtret it one bit.

Look forward to reading how you get on.

Enjoy.

I think it's going to be a slow process. I heard about the T7 so I'm waiting for the chance to get a good look at it before I decide to jump in. The way technology is moving on I think a hybrid would be w a safer bet if the planets line up.

Welcome to the forum LO69 CZB aka @Rollo66 ;)

That looks like a lovely van and I’m sure you’ll have a fantastic time with it. We have had ours for a year and a half now and couldn’t do without it despite the expense.

have you got a full conversion there?

Hi and thanks.

Yes we have a full conversion, only stayed overnight once so far but it was great.

Hi Everyone! We’ve had our current T5.1 LWB DSG 4 berth camper conversion for just over 3 years and have loved it. It has become my wife’s daily driver and replaced her car but at 170k miles she’s starting to show her age so back in January we ordered a new T6.1 LWB 4Motion in Ascot grey. I bought through Happynewvan and was told to expect a 24 week build time, possibly more, but we have just received it 8 weeks ahead of the expected date. Very pleased but caught out slightly as it’s still got to be converted before it can replace the current T5.1! Still we’ve got 3 trips booked for the summer in the 5.1 so we will give her a good send off before converting this one for the Autumn (hopefully).

While I’m waiting for my pop top and seat fitting slots I plan to upgrade the audio with an @Absolut5 Signature kit, and change the wheels. Not sure on front splitter as although I love the look, I don’t want anything too low that will get ripped off as we will be taking it off-road. Wife wants a two tone so I’ll wrap the bottom half and PPF the bonnet and headlights. Going to be a busy boy

I’ve been lurking on the forum for a few years and it’s a huge wealth of information with some clearly very knowledgable people. It’s been a massive help in choosing the van and giving me the confidence to do a conversion from scratch, so thanks to all the posters who share their knowledge.

Dorlo
