Welcome new members

Hi guys, thanks for letting me join.
I'm Dan, based in the Midlands. I've recently bought a 2019 T28 to convert, it'll be my first conversion.
Hi Dan dlucas85 welcome to the T6 Forum. Their is plenty of information on these pages to refer to and experienced hands to advise you on your way.

Thanks for letting me join. Actively seeking a T6 in any flavour with a view to conversion.... Or maybe one partially converted etc etc. Got to be a T6 thanks to Edinburgh LEZ. 🤬
Have a look in the for sale section on here.
Always nice vans for sale.
Welcome aboard

Welcome to us all @dlucas85 , good to have another midlander!
We do need photographic evidence though!
I assume evidence of the van and not the fact that I am in the Midlands haha! Coventry to be specific. The plywood lining was already inside, so that will surely come in handy at a later time. One of the roof panels is down inside because I fitted a dash/reversing camera in the hope it brings my insurance down.

Eventually I will get it sprayed, too - white is too much work to keep looking clean, I am thinking one of those grey colours.

Hi everyone,

New member to the forum. After many years of coveting Transporters on my trips to Dorset and the West country, plus many many hours trawling the net I’ve just put down a deposit on a 20 plate T6.1 T32 Kombi, which I hope be collecting next week.

I intend to use it as a daily driver and for family day trips & camping holidays, though I’m not converting the van to a camper, it’s just a larger vehicle to get everything in. Given a chance my long suffering wife would take the kitchen sink with us.

The vehicle has a Leighton styling kit and interior retrim, which comes with 20in alloys which I have reservations about, they look great but the roads where I am are badly maintained so I’m concerned about ride comfort and punctures. My Octavia VRS has low profile tyres, factory fitted not my choosing, and I have had so many blow outs and punctures it is rediculous.

Any advice on the optimum rim and tyre sizes, I’ve seen recommendations for 245/45/r19 also any tyre recommendation brands to suit, it looks like it has budget tyres, I typically choose the well known brands to try and avoid the ‘ditch finders’. I had a bed experience with a 2nd hand Golf which came with cheap tyres.

Also any insurance company recommendations, I tried Adrian Flux but they quoted an obscene amount so I’m still looking.

Welcome to the party!

I think I have that sized 19” tyres and they work well with alloys and lowered suspension. Plenty go for smaller wheels too though for extra comfort but I’m happy with mine. People seem to rave about cross climate tyres but I currently have cheap “ditch finders” and they seem fine (it’s not a sports car!) albeit noisy.

I’ve had my insurance through just kampers since I got the van and they are reasonably cheap for what’s being insured (mine is a full camper and insured for low yearly mileage + solely leisure use). Howdens are supposed to be good too although I’ve found them a similar price so haven’t bothered to switch yet.

LV vans are smart looking vans so it would be good to see some photos when you get it. Any plans for further adaptions? There are a few ads on here currently for bed/camping pods to go in the back of day vans, worth considering if you haven’t already. Also if you take up the VIP membership you’ll be able to sell those 20s on the forum.

Welcome @Biglox Loads of vans for sale at great prices on the forum. Hope you find something soon! Avoid Bi turbos!

Thanks Badjamin.... Yes my research has already found out that Biturbos are definitely not the ones to go for. I did start to wonder why some of them seemed so cheap. 👍

Try LV for insurance.

Hello! I am new member from Czechia, do not have T6 yet, but I want to get one someday, so I just joined this forum to learn more about the car. I would like to get one and travel across Europe with my loved ones, or tour around alone with my bicycles through local trail centres. Yea. We need something to dream about, don't we? :)

Hello! :) If you are looking for any recommendations about trails in Poland, I’d be happy to assist you! The most important thing about dreaming is making it come true!

Hey gymon! Thank you. Regarding the trails - I am mostly into XC-ish trail centers or flow trails, pure enduro is too much for me :) I am aware of a few locations near Czech borders where enduro guys go, but I found them too brutal for my DC bike :D
Regarding the dreams, I am working on that... :) For starters we just needed "some" car of our own, so we took Caddy 2K I found in very good condition (maybe there are also Caddy fans in here and not only on Caddy2K forums? :D). We took TSI, so that it can serve its purpose as a daily car. T6 would ideally be the second vehicle, but the time will show. I like T6 on practical side of things but am also aware of some "motor themes" of bi-turbo engines. Single turbos or TSIs however are not too common. That's also why I come here... to get more info on the matter :) Surely cannot think about buying another car sooner than in 2-3 years from now.

Your car looks really nice! 🙂 I was also considering the Caddy, but in the end I decided to go with the T6. I'm now a proud owner of a T6 with a TSI engine and a single turbo. I switched from a Kia Ceed 2 with a diesel engine to this TSI, and I must say — the fuel consumption is quite a shock! 😄

My Kia used to average around 6 L/100 km, but the T6 consumes at least 10.8 L/100 km, and even up to 13 L/100 km when I'm in a hurry. Still, I decided to give this car a try and made it my daily driver.

It's a bit early to share a full review, as it's only been two weeks since I bought it, but so far I'm enjoying the ride!
