What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Is this generally @VanDamMan, or just the Hexaway?
Hi @ThreeBridgeT6 ...it’s happen‘d a couple of times but not just the hex...after summer camp a few guys noticed a similar issue...I believe that on some awnings / tents the material compound just rubs in windy conditions...someone even suggested applying a barrier tape...but if you know about it you can try and mitigate the issue It’s polishes out quite easy but still annoying. The Hexaway ( I had one ) is still a great bit of kit......if campers could give feed back to awning manufacturers I’d suggest a microfibre strip on the leading edge or similar....you could try asking for a tent that you can put up in windy conditions ...but that’s never going to happen:laugh:

Thanks - I'll bear that in mind. I'm thinking of getting a Vango Cove and am going to ping Vango a message to suggest the microfibre strip. You never know! Failing that, Mrs H is pretty handy with the sewing machine and loves a project!

Installed an under bonnet, fused, 12v cigarette lighter socket, so that when on Forum meets, the LED flag pole lights can be run from the leisure battery, without running a cable from the interior of the van through 1 of the doors:

Protected through a 5 amp fuse, located under the rear of the passenger seat:

And then marked up what fuse does what:

Nice, what roof bars did you go for? They are also on my to do list. They look like the style I want to get.

For swapping the grille I followed the Transporter HQ YouTube video, with only two issues :
  • They didn't mention the fog lights,;
  • Those final trim clips are an absolute nightmare to remove!

I’ve seen some posts on this but never had an issue

Hi ...Nice colour combo.....a word to the wise...Awning rub....under certain conditions you may find rub marks on the paint work...
that said the Hexaway is great bit of kit.. enjoy :thumbsup:

Dismantled the sliding door card and table storage solution before it goes in for a locking controller replacement. I didn’t want a “technician“ becoming confused and having a meltdown attempting the removal it :fast rofl:

Probably a wise move. When I had to call out VW Assist because the sliding door would not close (or lock) properly, the tech took off my carpeted door panel and destroyed all but two of the hidden trim clips in the process. He replaced the mechanism in the door but when it came to refitting the panel didn't have the replacement clips as he said they were not OEM VW and I was left to order some up and finish the job properly. That said it was very cold at the time and TBH, I'm not really surprised that the clips all broke.

Definitely a wise move!

Gave the vans interior its first proper clean in my ownership. Also fitted a some rubber matting in a couple of places to try out. See if it stops stuff sliding around.
