What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Ah Jason, please tell me more about the sunglass holder...I am desperate for somewhere to keep sunglasses in my van
Had them in my last 2 transporters as standard and couldn’t believe they left it out on the 6.1

so I gave TPS a call with my old reg plate from my last van and ordered it up

Thanks Jason...I may have to copy you on this one!

@Absolut5 - Jason,
Is there a frame for the sunglasses holder that you have to install behind the head liner or is it a standard fitting in the roof that you can just screw into?
On my drivers side headliner there is a recess, but not even a handle that I could take out & swap.

Do you have a part number / cost for what you bought?
There are some on ebay, but these seem to be non genuine

Cheers

Since my last post on this I spotted one on Vanstyle ...not sure how it compares with the original VW TPS version Genuine VW Grey Sun Glasses Case Storage Holder - T5 T6 T6.1 - Vanstyle

Cheers for that @Mysticboer - good find.

I don't know if I dare buy 1 & screw it into the headlining, hoping that there is a female thread behind the recess to accept the 2 x bolts!!
Knowing my luck, there would be nothing behind to screw into, which would leave me with holes.

Hmm @moomin-j can’t quite decide whether to try it myself, or leave you to try it and learn from that experience :)

If you haven't got a grab handle there already, then i wouldn't chance it... Most of the ones i've seen replace the grab handle

To hold it sturdy you need the bracket behind, of just get a thin bit of ply and screw into it

the one from TPS was around £30.00 , I get a little of being trade

I am happy to report that I did the square root of nothing to my van! Had SWMBO comment that I had it washed and promptly spent the rest of the day helping clean the house from top to bottom because “the Americans are coming”....aka, her mother is landing in soon! I am currently driving a Vax across the carpets! (Pity she didn’t breathalyse me first, eh?!!!)

Also, What's involved in doing the job - I've got the Kiravans double passenger swivel and although I don't find the handbrake a particular pain to lower when swivelling, if the job wasn't too difficult (or expensive!), I might think about it. That said, every time that my wife uses the handbrake, she comments about how far it is to reach and her opinion probably counts more than mine!
Didn't have to alter handbrake on mine... Grinding top off floor bolts and getting swivel to sit on all bolts was interesting

The roller thingy didn't roll any more - popped the cap off to put some grease in there from the top so that gravity can take care of the rest. Were bone dry on both doors - a bit astonishing as I have never before needed/thought to grease these... in 15+ years

You're meant to find me toys to buy on this forum, not jobs to do! ;)
