What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

@Loopdreams did you do the front doors by going through the speaker hole, or by removing the inner skin??

Been wanting to do this myself for sometime, but I’m not sure how to tackle it yet?
We were able to sound deaden the outer skin by just opening all bolts but the top ones. Loosen those a bit and you can pull the panel enough from the bottom to successfully deaden the outer skin. Got this tip from a audio fitter who does loads of transporters. Ours is T6.1 so works on it too.

Only had the T6 a few weeks and I'm already doing things out of order!

Haven't organised a ply floor, insulation or carpeting, but I did pick up the start of my day van set up. The Assynt Kombi from The Ply Guys has now taken up residence in my van.

There are two infill pieces (one is a lower door) that become the center aisle so when the seats are folded there's a flat bed surface.

Plenty of storage thanks to the drawers and cutouts on top to allow access to it all whilst inside and tailgate is closed.

Left drawer designed for a wee cooker on the top.

Right drawer with adjust segmented storage.

Extremely pleased with this unit as I came from a Nissan NV200 with an all in one ply camper pod to the VW and it's night and day with the amount of extra space in the T6.

Both units have cutouts for the factory anchor points. I do need a better ratchet strap though. These were a last minute purchase from B&Q as I forgot I was gonna need to fix it down. The pod in my NV200 was pretty much a box that fitted snuggly in the rear with a floor and back wall, so it didn't move at all.

Now I need to pull my finger out and get the back sorted out properly!

Thank you for that!

I sound deadened the outer panels last week. These pictures may help. I left two top bolts in but loosened them. Slowly prised the inner skin off, need to carefull of the window mechanism on the bottom inside of the door which catches on the lip at the bottom. Loosening the top bolts allowed me to nudge the entire inner skin up a few mm and then the mechanism doesn’t catch. Finally used some trim tools to hold them apart for slightly easier access. Wear a long sleeve shirt the edges are sharp when putting the dodo mat inside!

Ah that's really helpful, I did try removing the bolts but saw the window mechanism catching and left it at that and screwed them back in. I'll have a go later.

@Welshsponger. Sorry if I missed where you said it before but how much sound deadening did you actually use and was it just directly behind the speakers? Cheers.

I wanted a canopy that could be removed easily. I’m very happy with mine and head no issues.
