Ganet eyes!
We were able to sound deaden the outer skin by just opening all bolts but the top ones. Loosen those a bit and you can pull the panel enough from the bottom to successfully deaden the outer skin. Got this tip from a audio fitter who does loads of transporters. Ours is T6.1 so works on it too.@Loopdreams did you do the front doors by going through the speaker hole, or by removing the inner skin??
Been wanting to do this myself for sometime, but I’m not sure how to tackle it yet?
Thank you for that!We were able to sound deaden the outer skin by just opening all bolts but the top ones. I sound deadened the outer panels last week. These pictures may help. I left two top bolts in but loosened them. Slowly prised the inner skin off, need to carefull of the window mechanism on the bottom inside of the door which catches on the lip at the bottom. Loosening the top bolts allowed me to nudge the entire inner skin up a few mm and then the mechanism doesn’t catch. Finally used some trim tools to hold them apart for slightly easier access. Wear a long sleeve shirt the edges are sharp when putting the dodo mat inside!Thank you for that!
Ah that's really helpful, I did try removing the bolts but saw the window mechanism catching and left it at that and screwed them back in. I had about 8 sheets of dodo sound deadening left over from doing the rear so put 4 on the outer skin of each door. More to remove the ‘ting’ from the panel than improve the sound from the speakers.@Welshsponger. Sorry if I missed where you said it before but how much sound deadening did you actually use and was it just directly behind the speakers? Cheers.
Thank you for providing the pictures, very helpful post i will be doing mine in the same way!I had about 8 sheets of dodo sound deadening left over from doing the rear so put 4 on the outer skin of each door. More to remove the ‘ting’ from the panel than improve the sound from the speakers.
