What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

The silent coat was £65 from Amazon for 40 sheets (doing other doors with it too) the dodomat liner cost £40 for 3m roll and £20 for the accoustic foam. Most likely need more at some point. I am doing the scuttle next.
Thanks. I’d like to do the doors at a point in the near future. Might wait until I can afford to change the speakers whilst the panel is off.

Kitchen units and sofa bed removed and stored in my dads garage and roof rails and rigid solar panels removed. Cleaned and refurbed rails for Skyline to fit on Thursday. Exciting times! cant wait to be able to stand up to do stuff in my van..... Wait.... I maybe shouldn't hav said that!

Be careful what you wish for fella. Just make sure you zip the scenic canvas up before you stand up and do "stuff".

Looks deece mate, I'll be doing that after i get pop top fitted. Would you mind showing the cable routing inside the pop top? Cheers
Mate I will, but it’s been up and down so many times today and I’ve just fastened it all down nice and neat.
I’ll take a pic at weekend at Bala and post it up then.
It will depend on your pop top. I’ve gone through the pop top on the outside of the canvas so the cable is all external.
My pop top has a steel frame with a recess 4cm wide, so I drilled a couple of holes through there and my internal wiring was below that under a trim panel, so put the cables through there with some grommets and put new MC4 connectors on the cable ends.
I didn’t put the frame holes directly under the pop top holes to reduce stress on the cables when putting the top up and down, so they lie across rather than kink.

Had a fault code reset on BCM saying short to ground, my interior lights are now working again.

Strange fault as there clearly was no short in the wiring.

Also reset a headlamp sensor fault as the headlights and levelling are working fine but for some reason there was an error.

Finally found the 15amp fuse for the gearstick cig lighter socket and that’s now working

All in all a productive day

Ok so what is the cheapest way to read and reset codes? Interior lights have stopped working again today were working fine then when I got home nothing again so I’m guessing the same error but I would like to be able to read and reset while I troubleshoot this

Removed the Spare wheel as im not running the same size no more (and i like this look more) ... Instead of that i will add a good reapair kit :)

I managed to give my van a tow bar mounted bike rack that now folds down to allow the tailgate to open properly. I've got a Thule Easyfold XT2 which, as the name indicates, folds to the size of a medium sized suitcase when not in use. Because it is so portable and easy to store when folded up and in it's zip up cover, I have always been willing to put up with the inconvenience on not being able to open the back when we're using the rack unless we either unload the bikes and then take it off or, as we did most of the time during our recent South of France road trip, just lift the whole thing off (ie. bikes 'n all) and drop it back on when we needed to. However, the novelty of doing that started to wear off as it can sometimes be awkward to place it in exactly the right spot to enable it to lock down properly on the tow ball. Anyway, I saw a video on YouTube made by a couple under the name of 'California Time' where they simply took out to thick plastic bungs which doubled as the stops for tilt mechanism on the rack. At first, I wasn't keen on their idea as I reckoned that the bungs probably contributed to the strength of the pivot point but when I got to take it apart, I realised that you could cut them down to a size which allowed the rack to fold enough but still maintained the structural integrity. An hours work and job done - I've just been out (in the rain) to test it and the tailgate clears the rack easily. I just need to make a prop of some kind now otherwise all the weight will rest on the handlebars of the outside bike when it's folded. A 27" length of roofing batten with a V cut into one end should do nicely but that's for later. If anyone's interested, I can explain some more and take some pics.
